I think this level of salt at being called out for the shit your'e doing is brand new, has anyone been so salty before that they post links to discussions so they can get people to downvote them?

And back to likebotting, the fact that I'm the only one being downvoted despite him posting it to comment sections with people who would supposedly agree with his bullshit while all of the other people agreeing with me are left untouched, makes me think he might have used the posting of the thread to hide using a downvote bot.

He certainly seems childish enough

Wow, somehow a comment I made 60 minutes ago got downvotes to being hidden at 2 am in the morning where I am! If it's not likebotting than people are literally sitting waiting for me to post, and I somehow doubt they would be doing it this late

I think there is some kind of botting going on but how are we supposed to go about proving it? If the resources aren't available then we're kind of stuck in the mud.

We could probably prevent things like this from happening in the future by implementing a captcha feature but we don't even have edit buttons or the ability to like multiple posts without waiting 8 seconds so that feature's probably not gonna happen.

seen a couple of accounts get clearly likebotted, and interestingly it's about 14, just like the trending images ones

Also here's an example of the image gallery ones
every one of the am/wf images are uploaded by bringbackpomf, and all of them have around 10 upvotes

the rest of the big discussion thread was normal but about half of steve's comments, and most of yours are disproportionately downvoted

I didn't notice any of his being disliked disproportionately, just the usual amount of someone's argument not being popular on a page

1-10 seems to be the average number. 10-20 is when a single comment manages to get a lot of people angry, or if there's something screwy going on.

Above 30 is a joke or a horde being released, same as when an image gallery is flooded with porn.

Anyway, I completely agree. The fact that Individual and VeteranAdventurer are in the same range is self-demonstrating

That being said, there is a huge problem with bots.

All that depends on how much traffic the post in question gets though. If something stays on trending for a few days a comment on it could easily get 30+ thumbs up/down.

Yes, good point. Conversely, if a small topic like this of 5-6 people gets in the double digits, then something's fishy.

It's not a hard rule, it really depends on the context.

I just did today, and there's a whole tale of doxxing which frises into illegallity, QAnon, a visit from PencilLord who I did see comment neo-nazi things (and this isn't hyperbole) just an overall shitshow. All of it doesn't paint a pretty picture, especially as that nonsense has bled into real life in some cases.

How long has this been going on? Has any any action been taken?

I can speak on this. Several months ago someone made a burner account to threaten me by showing me that they knew where I live. They then followed it up with bollocks about "q is watching". They also attempted to find photos of my house and post them in the image gallery, but they failed to find a photo of my house so they had to settle for a photo of a nearby house. This site has had a alt right underbelly hiding somewhere on it for a while, I think I was the person to really piss them of by banging on about how q is insane and also sharing several of their code words and phrases as images so people would know what images were secretly supporting it.

The doxxing was an attempt to scare me off, but I told them to fuck off and they did. The account was obviously a burner though, so SOMEONE on the site did it and is still here.

What the fuck. I hope whoever's behind this got arrested when the Qanon swarmed over the US Capitol, but I don't have my hopes up.

It was prior to the riots, so I think most people just didn't take them seriously enough to recognize the problem.

Bringing it back to likebotting, I think the fact that I managed to piss of nutjobs enough to dox me shows me that there are absolutely enough crazies on this site to dedicate their time to manipulating the numbers to help their side

To me, it seems like the rioters are the same problem as the doxxers. They wouldn't gone as far without people encouraging them, and others doing nothing when it was their job was to stop them. It took things bleeding outside of virtual space before police acted.

Well, politics are fun, but there's a limit. Doxxing would normally send someone else to jail if the IP number is identified.

I think it's a bit funny about the obsession with censorship/1984 authoritarianism some users have around here, when there was an actual contingent that tried to intimidate others.

I admit that being probably the only person in the history of the site to get doxxed gives me a weird sense of "I'm special"

To be fair, a handful of those are getting legit upvotes. The comic depicts someone moving on from resentment and finding a qt black gf.

The rest however, is just blatant shilling on pomf and ICEPepe's part.

I know, not saying all the upvotes are fake, just that there's no way that so many of his posts are getting to trending genuinely

I asked again a few days ago and don still says he can't help. Here's what he said:

Its notable in my opinion that the agreed upon amount of botting is generally 10-15, as that is the perfect amount to bury a comment.

Trend started with TheAnglo's images, mostly in the amerimutt gallery. Check the likes on his images and the likes on images posted there before he and his friends began posting.

Usually, anything more than 30 has some fair upvotes, while the rest (all with 10-15 apiece) are likely botted/sockpuppeted.

Honestly, it just seems they're shilling their own stuff, and It's pretty pathetic, even if I agree with some of it.
