ED's articles about as educational and informative as brick wall.

I've been on ED several times, to research memes ALONE. The actually tend to go around the point and never really explain anything.

I.E.: ED = Fun(?), not informative. 4chan is more informative when it talks about its "Tits or GTFO lolololo"

Developers need to eat too. Servers need bandwidth to work. Both of those things require money. Hence the ads and store. Sorry to say it, but websites can't be run on the almighty magical power of Anon and a dash of pixie dust.
Do you have proof that every cent made actually goes to hosting costs? If not, that's mere speculation and therefore not a valid basis for an argument.
If you have a problem with our family-friendly policy, then don't bother using the site. Nobody's forcing you to come here. If you don't like it, just stay on ED. You could just ignore KYM altogether and lose absolutely nothing. Your irrational actions only add validity to our criticisms.

I'm sorry to say, but gore, cp, shock imagery, etc do not shock or offend us. We're no different than you. We're just people messing around on the internet and when you're on the internet, you encounter shock imagery. This is expected. It's not scary. It's not traumatizing. It's just the reality of the situation. The fact that we (most of us, anyway) don't fap to it on a regular basis and want it plastered all over our website does not mean that we're somehow lesser than any anon.
And that's another issue I have with this. Why are anons placing themselves on pedestals? They know damn well that they're just nerds messing around on the internet and acting cool because they don't enter a name in the textbox when they make a post on a completely public imageboard. They're no better than anyone else and yet they act like they own the goddamn internet.

3. Well sorry for doubting that you had a server farm in your garage. KYM is a large website with a huge amount of traffic. It requires a little bit more funding than something you could throw together with some spare time, a computer, and a home broadband connection. Surely you're not just excluding this factor to make your point seem reasonable?
I don't make any money doing this. None of the mods do. Only staff does, and they aren't exclusively KYM staff members. Rocketboom employs them to work on both Rocketboom and KYM. And last I checked, they are not millionaires.
5. Corporate entities? Are you mistaking KYM's userbase for a corporate entity? KYM is run by Rocketboom, yes. Is KYM a corporation? No. KYM is a user-driven knowledge sharing website. Surely you must realize that being SFW doesn't detract from the validity of the content. If a meme is NSFW, then it is marked as such and documented anyways. No, we don't post porn or shock imagery here. But as I said, very few people want to read an article only to face a wall of shock images.
Really, would allowing NSFW content make the content any better? I think not. And from the looks of things, so does a vast majority of the userbase.
"Unaware audience?" A blatant assumption. Yes, some of our audience is unaware of the subject matter. But a majority already knows of the meme. Many of our users are anons themselves.

We don't necessarily want to be ignored. We just want people to use common sense. If they don't like a site, it stands to reason that they should not visit it. It will not have any effect whatsoever on their lives if they simply ignore it.

Not going to respond to all these. But let me address a few.

Unlimited bandwidth is easy to obtain. It's much cheaper then it was back then when shit was metered. Don't underestimate the power of online shopping for the best deal and negotiation.

4chan is not the only site responsible for memes on the internet. A common misconception about KYM is that it only documents 4chan memes. Most people who have never visited 4chan but know of a meme or memes know of memes that have nothing to do with 4chan.
So buying something that you like is somehow wrong because you're giving money to a corporation? Well in that case, you should start producing everything you use yourself, since supporting corporations is wrong. Yep, you know better than to feed the evil corporations. You grow your own food, build your own equipment, weave your own fabrics to make your own clothes, and carry water from a river on your back to ensure that you don't feed any of the corporations that oppress and ruin your culture. Hell, why don't we all go back to being monkeys roaming around hunting for food? That would teach those damn corporations to make life so easy and comfortable for us.
I'm not saying that you can't access shock imagery. I'm not saying that every website should be censored. But I am saying that when you're on this site in particular, you can't post such content. This should not be a problem. When you are on a website, you are a guest on the owner's server. Don't confuse a website with the U.S. government.
Bottom line, if the admins say not to post something, don't post it. If you don't like it, go elsewhere.

Only if you can show me where they are profiteering off memes. The Sony deal isn't a reason, for it only helped RocketBoom some time ago to produce their show, and the deal ended up months/more than a year ago. But someone with common sense would understand that RB isn't KYM, even if KYM is a part of it.

Yes. As I explained, this website does not grant you the same rights to not be censored as the U.S. government. The admins can censor whatever they want because they run the site. I imagine they don't want shock images here any more than anyone else. So they ask that we not post them. This is not an unreasonable request.
If you think a meme has been left out, submit it, don't whine about censorship. If an entry is hidden or deadpooled, it's because it's poorly written, lacks evidence of memetic elements, and/or is spam. You can always just ask for editorship of a deadpooled entry, revise it, and then ask for it to be reviewed by an entry mod. Not rocket science.
