I haven't edited or made a meme yet, is there anything I would need to know before starting/editing one?

Well, everything regarding formatting can be found in The Know Your Meme Style Guide. I'd suggest you get yourself a bit familiar with hypertext and/or html as well.
Hold crap O.o That's all much more complicated than I thought. But I guess it get's less complicated the more familiar you are with it.
Also, be sure to take a look at how already confirmed articles are formatted. Almost every article has the following components
An "About" section
This is where you explain what the meme is and how it commonly appears.
An "Origin" section
This is probably one of the hardest things to research. In some cases, an "earliest instance" will do instead of an origin, but an origin is highly preferable.
A section on spread and derivatives
This is probably the most important part of the article. It allows us to see how things have changed since the original inception of the meme.
If you have any other questions, there are tons of people willing to help you, whether you're asking on how to write an article or if you need help researching a meme. Just head on over to Meme Reserach for help.
Ok, thanks very much!
