i know this subject is a week old but i saw nothing sorted out!

i saw a lot of argueing and fighting, haters VS. fans and nothing was decided…

so what was decided with the MLP:FiM treding pictures? right now they are hunted down with extreme prejeduice and with all due respect to the other memes and all, this sucks really badly.

this is outright cencorship, if a picture is trending, let it trend! hell, i have seen some of the recent treding pictures, they all basically have 1-3 comments, really? i thought a picture needed about 6+ comments to trend!
even then, if people feel other memes being choked, why not just limit the MLP trending photos to lets say 3-4 pictures? bronies don't feel censored and hunted, other memes still trend, it's so easy why isn't done yet?

I imagine it's safe to say at this point, that the final formula for what gets images into the trending box is still being worked out.

Well, it's harder to hunt out pony pictures then you think. There are rouge Bronies here, and they will try their hardest to make sure ponies take over EVERYTHING on KYM. So, you have to make a filter in trending. They did this when the ponies got out of hand, and what did they filter? Any picture with the name MLP:FiM. So, direct ponies were out, crossovers were in. Just a few HOURS after the filter went into effect, ponies were mostly trending just as usual, with a few regular memes in there too, and along with this, original, classic memes had pony crossovers spammed all in their picture gallery. Advice Dog was one of these victims. Five pages of pony, in Advice Dog. Thus, everyone (Including most of the bronies) Had had enough, and the moderators filtered out all pony in anything in the trending pictures, and most likely removed the pony spam in the memes. So, that's why we have this tight lock on Trending Pictures, as punishment to the rouge bronies for spamming. I think they should allow some pictures, about 1-2, but keep the rest of the trending memes in place. 3-4 is a little much for ponies, and I think that's still spam. Trending pictures should have a space for every trending meme, and 3-4 pony pictures is taking away spots from 2-3 trending memes that people could actually like. So, 1-2 is perfect for Trending Pictures.

I'm sure KYM understands that the Bronies want their pictures back in the Trending section, instead of being 'censored'. I'm sure they also understand that people are upset with the images that have been appearing in the Trending section, because almost every photo has someone commenting "OMG, there's like, one comment on this photo and it's trending? Where my ponies at?" Understandable.

But.

For weeks ponies dominated the trending section. Every day, if not all, at least 7 out of the 9 photos in the Trending section were MLP. It got. A little. Annoying. And now, in an attempt to bring you, the members of KYM some original content and non-pony related humor, you all treat it like ponies are now subject to some kind of "extreme prejudice", and that Bronies are being "hunted"? Nope.avi! They just want to ensure that you, the loyal browsers and members of Know Your Meme, are given some variety in their daily lulz! I find these new images to be a good thing, I like coming here every day and seeing new images, even if they're not as popular as MLP! Your beloved ponies shall return! But for now, why not enjoy some of the images the staff has selected? They're lulzy as hell!

And if you REALLY want to see MLP pictures, be my guest. The image section of the entry is 529 pages long and contains over 6,000 images. Feel free to browse it.

We re-jiggered the trending photos section in reaction to the ponies, yes. They are not currently being outright censored.

But I'm not 100% sure that this new evaluation works as-is. In all reality, I would assume that there would be some representation of certain articles (ex: ponies), and not all of the images that are up there always make sense.

I'm sorry to always give a vague answer about this, but we're working on it. I'm afraid of giving more info than that, since we don't want any of our solutions to be abused or gamed.

I do believe that we got kicked from the trending images because of the massive intentional spam a few rogues sent out when the mods first tried to address the problem of us drowning out other memes… still, due to the massive FiM fanbase when the new evaluation system is perfected I assume we should have at least one pic up there quite often.
Just give the mods some time to figure it out.

rouge bronies? ouch, that's pretty damn sad that a communty unified with friendship and kindness woud cause so much problems.. ok i accept this so called punishment as long as it's not going to be permenant.

another suggestion i would add is to make the trending bar bigger, 9 picutres when we have over 100 picutres posted every day is far too little.

i suggest there would be room for lets say 12 or 15 picutres. that why my orignal 3-4 would be more acceptble to you

My question is: why would it matter to you if there is no pony images in the trending section anymore?
The MLP entry is massive, overwhelmed with fans, comments, likes and all sorts of things. The forum has the same massive thread about it.
Your community isn't censored. The new trending system only seems to take pictures at random, that's all. And you are where you must belong since the beginning, i.e in a single (or at least few) forum thread(s) and in the entry itself.

The only ones who are complaining about it, for reasons I don't understand, are mainly people who posted in the MLP-related threads and entry, so, in other words, frustrated bronies. ONLY BRONIES.

That's why there is absolutely no reason to discuss this any further.
There is no reason to change the size of it and how it works.

I, for one, welcome our return to a less pony-fied hope page and trending photos.

By the way, Ponies are back in the Trending photo at the moment, so yeah. Cheers.
