Like, really.

They're anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-Net Neutrality (NOTE: The FCC ruling on this is in a week. It looks good right now.), anti-education reform, they can't stop jacking off Big Oil, a lot are racist, and they spend every waking hour thinking of a new way to screw over anyone outside the 1%. They say they're "pro-life", but from my point of view, they're anti-life.

What country would be the best one to leave this fucking country for when I graduate? I want to get out of this bigot-ran piece of shit ASAP.

Also… I know I come off as anti-American. Maybe I am to an extent. However, I still love the country itself and what it's supposed to stand for – life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I'm not anti-American. The GOP is.

They're still better than the British National Party.

A lot of Republicans are racist? That's nothing in comparison to the BNP. Here'a a quote from their manifesto:

"[The BNP advocates] voluntary resettlement whereby immigrants and their descendants are afforded the opportunity to return to their lands of ethnic origin."

Throwing non-whites out of the country is literally right there in their fucking platform.

I see your point, most of the GOP is in fact part of the 1%, and they always think war is the answer to global issues. Most Democrats on the other hand are supportive of the 99%, so they seem like normal people instead of stuck-up wealthy WASPs. Plus they prefer isolationism, that way we can avoid getting in other countries' business.

I'm on the same boat, Jimmy. I'm upset at how greedy and evil they have become in the last 30-40 years. These guys think that racism, sexism, and homophobia are good, they like their guns as if it was their second family, they want the poor to suffer and die, and they try to shun anyone who doesn't believe in Jesus Christ and their God.

I really do hate the GOP as well. And as long as the Republican party is trying to get the GOP vote and is controlled by them, they will never win the presidency.

Young people may not vote for a lot of things, but they turn out enough to smack the old people down when it comes to the presidential election.

If the republican party wants to win presidency its gotta stay start burning any ties to GOP and start getting back in touch with reality.

Sweden.

It's a social democracy that actively encourages 3rd world immigration, society and institutions are highly feminist, and it has high taxation and plenty of welfare. Plus, openly expressing racism is legit illegal there.

Just come to any northern European country, really.
The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Norway, what have you.

But yeah, I'm not American, but to me (and I think this goes for a lot of Dutch people), the Republicans come across like a bunch of, well, bigots/old white people too proud for change or whatever. They just seem stuck in the past.

Then again, I gotta say that the two-party system the US have is simply retarded. It makes Dutch politics look like paradise, once you learn to ignore the wacky antics of Geert Wilders, that is.

Since we're on the topic of the GOP, just lemme rant a bit here.
So, a few republicans in Oklahoma decided to remove their public school's AP History course because it includes "negative aspects of our American history". In other words, they're preventing kids from learning about American History because they might end up learning about some of the dumbass things America has done in the past.
And you know what they're replacing it with?
That's right, a class on the ten commandments and speeches by George Bush

Screw education amirite???

Sometimes, I feel like I'm lucky for being Canadian. I always hear these "horror stories" about the US law and such. But still, I honestly think we tend to focus on the negative aspect too much.

It's funny, I'm not american but I legitimately used to think they were just f*cking around and even believed it was a conspiracy to make democrats look better…
They're the perfect representation of that disgusting humanity sector that refuses to go forward, just laugh it off man, those idiots are burying themselves

To whatever degree that's true (from research, it appears that the bill sets it as "required studying material" as a "foundational document", but doesn't actually define the class as the study of it), there's absolutely no way that'll stand up against a court challenge, or I'm a monkey's uncle. And we have two SC decisions to thank for that: Everson v. Board of Education (1947), which for the first time incorporated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the states through the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth; and Lemon v. Kurtzman (1971), which defined the so-called "Lemon Test" that is still used by the courts to this day:

1. The statute must not result in an "excessive government entanglement" with religious affairs. (also known as the Entanglement Prong)
2. The statute must not advance or inhibit religious practice (also known as the Effect Prong)
3. The statute must have a secular legislative purpose. (also known as the Purpose Prong)

That's a failure on counts two and three.

And not too surprisingly, these are all things I learned in… where else?… AP US History.

Hmmm… depends. Is "All of the Above" an option? If not, I'd say Alabama.

Many people like to call those states "The Bible belt"
which if you look at how many of them behave you can see why.

People wonder why I love America but hate the government?
Those old-ass crones trying to rob the pockets of every last American out there that are in the big seats making sure everyone gets screwed the fuck over and TOSSING INNOCENT PEOPLE OUT TO DIE, they're the fucking reason!
Sorry, just hearing anything about them genuinely pisses me off. I'm going to bed. All you need to know is that I hope the GOP gets a serious ass-kicking one day, and I'd love to be one of the givers of said ass-kicking.

Republicans teaching a class on the ten commandments? Topkek.

"These are the Ten Commandments! Except there are only eight of them, really. Rumor has it that there were two other commandments about not killing or committing adultery? LOL, those were probably just mistranslations or some shit."

Worst? I'd say New York or New Jersey. I would go with California, but I kinda like northern California.

GOP-dominated? Alabama according to this thing.

Also, Democrats are no better then Republicans, and NBC and CNN are no better than Fox. I'm just saiyan.

I never said that all Democrats were good.

Extremists are bad for both sides. though from my perspective most democrats are closer to the middle ground, while more republican senators/governors extra are near the fringe right.

They are nowhere near the fringe right.

I'd say… more, but not "most".
Speaking of which, who here remembers when the GOP was the liberal party?
Here's the last known photo of the only person who did:

As a female Republican-Libertarian, I feel it is my duty to clear up a lot of what I see wrong with this debate.

1) The GOP doesn't have a singular point of view.
The GOP is divided very much into factions. You have your Libertarians like Ron Paul and Justin Amash who are typically very liberal on defense issues (bring all troops home), gay marriage (some even go as far to claim that marriage should be whatever the participants consent to it being) and abortion and drug policy (some even advocate total legislation of ALL drugs). They are generally seen as fiscally right and socially anarchist. You then have on the other side your Neo-Conservatives who are basically what you have described.

2) The GOP is "anti-gay".
Maybe for some factions of the Republican Party, but gay marriage is slowly becoming more and more accepted. Again, some (generally from the Libertarian faction) even advocate for any type of marriage anyone wants.

3) The GOP is "racist".
Ahh, if only I had a nickel. The GOP was founded principally on the ideas of anti-slavery. I just find it hard to believe that a party that was recently chaired by a black man (Michael Steele), once had a black man as a front-runner and currently has an Indian and a Hispanic (Piyush Jindal and Marco Rubio) as potential candidates is racist.

4) The GOP is made up mostly of the "1%"
This can be debunked easily. Republicans are generally poorer than Democrats. In-fact it is a common insult to refer to Republicans as poor trailer trash. Officially registered Republicans comes in at about 31 million. 1% of the US Population is 3 million. Even if every single top percenter was in the GOP they would only make up 10% of the party's membership.

5) The GOP doesn't represent the "99%"
Republicans are on average poorer than Democrats (although not by much). Most believe in private charities, which are on average far more effective than government-based charities dollar by dollar. Why are they so skeptical of government charity? Because in 2020 the government will face $100.2 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Really makes the whole 17 trillion in debt seem tiny in comparison.

As this is a somewhat informal board, I have not included sources. Please do not believe me and please research the topics yourselves. Also, do not look at left-leaning websites for information on those on the right and vice versa. It is their job to make the oppositions' agenda look as nefarious as possible.

So let me get this straight:

1. You somehow stumbled across this thread, presumably while lurking, and that singlehandedly inspired you to create an account, as evidenced by the fact that (at the moment) this is your lone forum post.
2. You identify as a "female Republican-Libertarian", and yet… your avatar is the classic '93 album from none other than motherfucking Snoop Doggy Dog.
3. You have somehow completely failed to notice that absolutely no "debate" has surfaced so far on this "Serious Debate" thread.
4. You use phrases like "if I only had a nickel", thus clearly showing that you're no younger than seventy-three.
5. Your points are completely calm, rational, and even nuanced.

I… I just… I mean…

And yet I must tip my metaphorical hat in your general direction, from one clear centrist to another. When the GOP eventually dissolves/forms a completely new identity, you surely will not be left in the dust.

I used to hate the republicans, then I tipped into the other end of the spectrum and started hating the democrats. Finally I came to the conclusion that I don't particularly support either party exclusively. I agree and disagree with different ideas from the Grumpy Old Poopy-Pants party and the offended hippies club. I see voting as picking the candidate who's gonna fuck the country up less than the other guy.

Rule of thumb: If you're able to use either of these songs as accurate descriptions of your political platform:

You shouldn't be running for fuckin' President!

Isnt sweden that country that created "gender equal snow ploughing" because somehow cleaning roads of snow have to do with the patriarchy? good luck buddy.

http://www.thelocal.se/20131211/snow-plowing-should-be-gender-equal-greens

It basically means that areas which are frequented mostly by women, such as bike paths and trials, are given as much priority as roads, which are apparently more frequented by men.

Because y'know, bike paths are just as important as the arteries of commerce.

And holy shit, why is Sweden so pathetic? This sight actually has articles that says MPs in Sweden support taking on more refugees. Why do countries do this? What benefit do these refugees bring? Don't they know theirs a recession going on? They are betraying their people by taking on this unnecessary expense.

Maybe it has something to do with there being more to life than money.

I don't care if they can sleep bette at night, politicians putting the interests of foreigners before the interests of their own people is disgusting.

Also, holy shit, people in Sweden are actually concerned that that board of Swedish companies are too white. When will this madness end?
