I was doing my weekly round of checking gay news when I came across this article: http://www.newnownext.com/gay-man-pulled-from-home-beaten-by-nypd-officers-yelling-faggot-in-horrifying-video/07/2015/

Now, I'm not familiar with NewNowNext, so are they a satire site like The Onion, or at least heavily skewed with bias? Because, if I am reading this correctly, then it sounds like 4 cops who were called to a private abode to deal with a disturbance of the peace and/or domestic dispute (which had ended by the time the police had arrived, since of of the two relevant parties involved in the dispute, and the only one inebriated, had left the premises) only to threaten to shoot a canine resident and beat an unarmed man (that may or may not have resisted arrest and/or provoked one or more officers, I'm not too clear on that) who pleaded for them to stop on account of his recent foot surgery, while they uttered derogatory slurs, and ultimately leaving the man with injuries severe enough that they required hospitalization.

I'm skeptical about this story because it seems so over-the-top. But am I being oversensitive if I feel like, if this is true and there are no other relevant details important to seeing the whole story to this incident, then the actions of those officers, at least in this one specific incident, were unacceptable and a violation of the oath to protect and serve?

I don't know, I'm just confused about this whole thing…
