Because the country and their leaders would be charged with international crimes if they weren't. It doesn't matter if they're fighting for their freedom or just being dicks, preservation of their own lives is paramount. This allows them to fairly be tried and convicted of their crimes.

Actually Israel allows capital punishment if the crime is a crime against humanity. So therefore their move is only the political shortcut without having to reason with other people. Since their laws state that it is allowed they can simply off the terrorist easily, if in fact the terrorists murder someone or cause suffering to peoples, they don't have to listen to anyone except themselves and the UN and I doubt the UN would trifle in these types of cases since they don't overall effect the world.

Also the guy who got arrested was shortly released a couple days after his sentencing of 6 months for murder and arson. Less than two fucking days he served and he was released and he was fucking smiling the whole time.
