As recent months have shown us, society has kinda sorta… exposed itself. While we're in a fundamentally better position than even the 90s, what with LGBT people finally getting their rights, the increase in many other positive things, and the overall victories we've had socially, it's clear we're in a bad spot right now, especially following this election. The National Debt is going to become an issue soon, and as many others have pointed out, Social Justice legitimately has the possibility of being a threat to society. Not only that, but recent years have made it clear that, if anything, the American government DESPERATELY needs a reform, and overall it looks like our generation has a lot on our plates.
I now ask everyone here; what do you plan to do to help fix this situation? What do you plan to do to start changing the world for the better, be it politically, socially, economically, etc.? Because truth be told, one can't just complain about the state of affairs, then just sit back and do nothing. Everyone can drive change in their own small way, and if there is one great positive of recent movements, it's that they've proven this statement.
I personally have taken to researching investment and understanding politics and economics (As much as I despise both) in an effort to help fix things up in those ways while also having the funds to drive a bigger change than normal. I want to fund relief efforts and spread positive messages that would reinforce society and make things a bit easier for the next generation, maybe even try to push for an educational reform and a huge change to the American government in any way I can.
So, what do you plan to do? It doesn't matter how big, but what will you do to try to counteract the nastiness of recent years? It could be as big as "WIPE OUT THOSE TERRORIST SCUM" to just as simple as "speak to people around me and try to spread a good message".

My intended career doesn't involve politics or economics in any way, but I am fairly likely to end up in some sort of advocacy position. More likely a volunteer than a worker, in that case. Regardless, I am fairly well informed on politics and economics, and only intend to learn more over time. I would be using this knowledge to help inform family and friends, as well as anyone who would listen to me. It's fairly obvious I'm not really uncomfortable sharing my beliefs online, so it's possible I'd finally start that website I've wanted to for a long time to try to reach an audience with my views.

Revolutionize the way we choose and manage livestock while systematically destroying industrial livestock production.
I'm planning on becoming a teacher, so hopefully I'll be able to get my kids to love learning and teach them to be compassionate, two traits that children really should have. The children are our future, after all.
Well i'm going to be a police officer, and I plan to use my discretion when its needed; that's all I can say really for now.
I can only do so much as a welder. However, I will always do everything in my power and in my knowledge to fight human ignorance in this world, in other people I see and talk to in real life and online. I can sometimes be ignorant myself at times about things I am passionate about and it tends to do more harm than good, which is why I strive to fix it by keeping an open mind and by learning new things on a daily basis on what is going on around me to help fight my own ignorance.
I will always advocate fighting for true equality, justice, and freedom in this world seeing as how this world is completely drowning in injustice, greed, oppression, ignorance, and war. I will always speak out for those who are without any form of basic human rights, who are oppressed, and who deserve freedom and justice. I will not let peoples negative opinions change or alter my conviction on these things and I will not stop preaching about these things whether people like it or not. I would rather be hated for being honest and true to myself than to be liked for lying.
I am not perfect, I only wish to show people that there are more than one way to look at things in this world than just what is shown to us. If I can change a mind of an individual to see things differently for the better than that is the best thing I could ask for.
My mind is currently blank on what I want to for the rest of my life, but one thing I know for sure is that after I'm done with college, I'm taking my lazy ass to serve in the military.
It's just something want to do and feel like I have to do.
Try to be nice and patient with everyone I meet and know. We've all got problems; the last thing we need is some condescending twat that makes things hard for us.
Become wealthy enough to Angel-fund companies that are technologically, ecologically, and socially innovative. Capital in my view has always been the fuel of human progress, and I want to ride that river to the ocean!
THE OCEAN!
I intend on a career in Computer Sciences, so I don't imagine it would be rife with humanities options. I could probably figure out a way to help people learn how the computer works. Either that, or plan on a military career.

Jokes aside, I tie my career to scientific and academic work. It is not merely because I enjoy it, I actually chose it in the first place because of my firm belief that it improves the world as a whole, permanently. I aim for organic chemistry, biochemistry or biomedical engineering, so mostly topics directly related to medicine and industry (a little).
Not only that, but I have taken an active political stance lately, without joining any major party/political group. I attend the demonstrations I deem necessary and will use my right to vote in the next elections wisely, although my preffered method of activism is simply civil discussion and discourse. I have also practiced public speaking, so that I may take an even more active role in this field.
I want to make comics, write somewhat philosophical things, and teach kids more than english (I'm french, honhon, Polnareff).
For now though, I want is to learn a lot more about this world. I'm no scientist nor a guy all about economics, though I'm starting however to learn a lot more about politics, and it really is interresting, both inside my country and outside of it.
But I can't teach people if I don't know crap about what's going on. I want to make people think, learn in a good and fun way.
Boy do I feel cheesy saying this. In a way, this thread is also cheesy.
But I like cheese, so I guess I'm okay with that.
