I noticed an increase in the number of deadpools.
maybe we should put on the site's frontpage an advice stating that this site is not one where you can create a random entry about your ugly dog or some fatty with googley eyes. to tell them that this is a serious(sort of) site that serves the purpose of researching and expplaining the origines of memes.
and most important of all, to tell them that posting an entry does not make it a meme.
(inplicit: kill them wth fire)

Those entries and others always pick me up when I'm sad.

I just love them. Without entries like those my days would be miserable.

i hear you both. perhaps the tricky thing about deadpooled entries is that it's really hard (prolly impossible) to place them into any categories or patterns. they got flagged for several different reasons and many of them are brilliant submissions (like tea time with Chris!), which i assure you will be revamped and put into good use.

and i'm thinking about making an image collage of some sort out of deadpooled images… :D

Maybe admins should take a note on the end of the article WHY it was deadpooled. This way it will give a reason and avoid similar articles being submitted.

some are funny, but the ones that are just pure spam or advertisements are not worthwhile and IMO should be deleted.

As long as the deadpool does not interfere with the important parts of the website i.e. the submissions, featured, and confirmed memes, it's harmless and should be left alone. Maybe if it causes some sort of noticeable problem in the future, maybe someone should weed them out. I thought the same thing about duplicate pictures, but there are so many, it would take a long time and effort from the administrators to sort out, and they have lives you know! (right?)

In the meantime, I feel as if the KYM community does a better job of filtering stuff to the deadpool (through your comments) than we admins can. (No offense to us admins.)

something needs to be done about the deadpool, it's bigger than submissions.

Indeed. We need to delete a few deadpool'd entries. The inside jokes are so awful that they are funny, but some of the double entries should be deleted.
