how fucking small is that analog stick AKA the new nintendo 3DS

that tiny thing above the abxy buttons is supposed to be the 2nd "analog stick" of the new nintendo 3DS. other than that, gameslot was moved to the front, it now only accepts microSD, the regular model has slightly larger screens, the XL stays the same in size, the battery life was extended, additional shoulder buttons were added.

i fell like they could've just put the abxy buttons lower (where the d-pad on the left side is) and put a full-sized "analog stick" above it, so it would be kinda symmetrical, and not that tiny, but well, we'll see…

microSD only is bullshit too, they prbably want to prevent me from moving my stuff from my old SD to the new system or what? or is ther an online system for that (i know nintendo is kinda slow when it comes to that, but eShop should be like steam, werhe you log in and have access to your bought stuff from any device, or maybe a only one account per device policy with the possibility to reset the device for resale etc.), i don't know, i didn't keep up with it that much, because i didn't move to the XL and therefore didn't care until now.

i guess that also means i, who certainly won't buy one on or shortly after releasy, will have to run around with the hideous 2nd analog stick attachment, since there is a high probability that more games using two analog sticks will be made now.

The point to keep in mind about this is there are games coming exclusively to this model. I doubt the new Xenoblade remake is going to be the only thing that will be on this platform.

what, why, the new processor is supposed to be a tiny weeny bit faster, but only to shorten loading screens etc. >.> it's still a member of the 3DS family

if that's true, that that's a really shit move by nintendo, additionally to my previous doubts about the new system :S

EDIT: fuck it, i'm 300% done, if you're going to make a new console nintendo fine, but by making that ONE FUCKING GAME exclusive, for a consola that is practically the same as the current one…

3DS to 'new' 3DS.

gameboy era was 9 years, also colours was a pretty big thing the gb color had to offer.
there were no DSi exclusive games, had some reasonable changes, such as using the safer and more up-to-date wlan-encryption standards WPA and WPA2.
the new 3DS literally only implements the features of the analog-stick expansion into the device itself, and has a insignificantly faster main processing unit, BUT it has exclusive at least one exclusive game, and not just some shitty nintendolandmiiadventures64, or marioland50000, but xenoblade, that game that almost made me want a wii.

never used this right?

if you find me an adapter that does the exact opposite, then we'll talk.

@Slime Cap's and El gavilán luchador's gba demur:

advance SP had no exclusive games that wouldn't run on the old gba.

@thatneutraldude:

i don't freak out because it looks unfunctional, in fact, i really thought this is a cool thing and that i'll probably get one.
longer battery life? yeah, sounds good.
build in 2nd analog stick? well, yeah, that's what everyone expected from the XL, looks kinda weird, but maybe it turns out to be good.
slightly stronger processor? well, the DSi also got an upgrade like that, so i think it's fine…
exclusive games? wait this still IS a 3DS right?
so, i freak out because of nintendo's bullshit policy to release a console, that's not nreally a "next gen" handheld, but rather a 3DS 1.5 that will have exclusive games.
also, their policy of binding bought games and content to a device rather than an account is pretty dumb too, as long as they don't provide a way to transfer my content between devices.

also sorry for weird typos, it's always kinda late when i get on the forums here, hehe

i will say this..lets wait

and only exchange your 3ds for the new IF….necessary

i hope for campaign like "upgrade your 3ds for the new 3ds for only 60$" instead of having to buy at full price

I don't see why that would make any business sense for Nintendo. It's not like they can just slap some new buttons on your old 3ds, they have to manufacture a whole new piece of hardware. What would they do with a bunch of used 3ds' anyway?

Anyway, IMHO this will go the way of the 64DD, with the vast majority of games continuing to be developed for use on the regular 3ds. Only the few games programmed to use the extra buttons will be exclusive to the new 3ds. It's more of an added peripheral than a brand new console.

It's almost like people forget companies usally test and think about their products. If that second stick really was too small or at a terrible place, they wouldn't have put it there.
The second stick is mostly used for camera movement and stuff like that.
Moving the face buttons down would mean that every game that doesn't use it (almost all games so far), would play very awkwardly.

Moving your data is no problem at all.

And micro SD is the new standard. In the worst case scenario you have to move it to and from your PC.

although the thread title suggest something else, i said that the 2nd stick might be alright, ahven't tried it, so i dunno, just looks weird to me, but especially on the XL i'd have made sense to ut it symmetrically to the other side, or maybe swap positions, resulting in a xbox-like layout.
camera movement also means aim for shooters or most 1st and 3rd pseron games, or special moves for ssb, it just looks a bit close to the upper screen hinge to have a good bit of movement with the thumb.

micro SD as the new standard, uh, well, it was the standard 2011 already when the 3DS was introduced, and moving with the PC is most likely not as easy as most may think, since the system most likely also writes hidden data on the Sd that can't be just d&d'd onto the new one.

but eh, i already said i'd give the thing a chance, hell this was what i've been waiting for. but the exclusive games thing is just a shitty move from nintendo's side. i find it that off-putting that this very well might me my main reason for not getting one, instead of being a feason for buying it.

Chances are that the exclusives will be limited to Wii U ports. Any other game specifically made for the 3DS doesn't need the extras put in the 'new' 3DS. So if you have a Wii U, the additions of the 'new' 3DS are mostly just fanciness.
