…..Well shit. EA might have officially doomed the video game industry to crash in the long run. Before this becomes a stupid debate let me expand upon what I mean instead of just reading the first sentence.
The ESRB can not rule on this one way or the other, cause it would also dick over companies like Blizzard and Valve. If they make a ruling one way other on this topic it dicks over not just EA but everyone, including companies that actually give a shit.
Governments can not rule on this one way or the other, cause like with the ESRB and such it would also dick over companies that aren't assholes.
The thing to keep in mind is that before the 1983 video game crash what caused it was a EXTREME oversaturation of shitty games.
What does this have to do with the current situation? You know how back in the day there were actually a fair amount of good cellphone games then a couple asshole companies, who we all probably know as being total fuck sleezeballs that hire people in third world countries and pay them dogshit of a salary, just started vomiting and shitting minimum effort "games" to flood the market with as many of their "products" as they possibly could. Several of those companies the past couple of weeks have announced that they want to get into pc and console gaming.
If you genuinely do not see the connection here then no offense but you are dumb. The companies that ruined cellphone gaming have all of a sudden decided that they want to get into pc and console gaming mere weeks after EA implemented this shit.
There's two ways this could go:
1)The ESRB or governments rule against lootboxes, microtransactions and it dicks over everyone that makes multiplayer games super hard and without lube.
2)The ESRB and governments do nothing: the people that ruined cellphone games start making pc and console games.
