1950s "Thick Of It" refers to an AI Song Cover of YouTuber KSI's 2024 song "Thick Of It" made to sound like a blues or doo-wop song from the 1950s. The 1950s version of "Thick Of It" was created by YouTuber Puren in October 2024. In the following weeks, meme creators on TikTok and elsewhere used the 1950s version for memes, like AI Voice dubs. Overall, the 1950s version of "Thick Of It" made fun of its lyrical content by placing it in a genre and timeframe when it could have been labeled innovative or artistically sound.

Origin

On October 6th, 2024, YouTuber[1] Puren posted an AI-generated remix of KSI's rap song "Thick Of It" (featuring Trippie Redd) to make it sound like a 1950s blues or doo-wop song. Over 10 days, the AI Song received roughly 776,200 views and 63,000 likes (shown below).

On October 9th, 2024, TikToker[2] @twenty.1m reposted the abovementioned video, adding IShowSpeed Trying Not to Laugh in the bottom half. In a week, the video received roughly 7.2 million plays and 953,900 likes (shown below).

In the following days, other TikTokers used the TikTok sound[3] of the abovementioned video. For instance, on October 10th, TikToker[4] @xefferson posted a video in which he danced like a 1950s person to the song, gaining over 27.2 million plays and 4 million likes in six days (shown below).

More memetic content with the 1950s version of "Thick Of It" surfaced going into October 2024. For instance, on October 11th, TikToker[7] @officer_reptar joked about how the 1950s "Thick Of It" remix would fit well into the Fallout soundtrack, amassing over 1.7 million plays and 154,700 likes in five days (shown below).

For instance, on October 11th, YouTuber[6] @JuicedupJake_1 posted a Short using the audio, adding a caption that read, "People were listening to this banger in the 1950s," gaining over 55,000 views and 2,800 likes in five days (shown below).
