1984 Paloma Diamond Series, also known as the Young Paloma Diamond Series or Dina and Rocky TikTok Novela, is a fictional TV series created by TikToker Julian Sewell in September 2024. The skit centers around a 1984 TV series starring Paloma Diamond, who is also a fictional actress, playing the role of Dina after her divorce from Rocky. The satirical skit was popularized in late October 2024 as users started an ironic fandom on TikTok, commenting on the plot and decisions of the characters as if it were a real show or telenovela.

Origin

On September 9th, 2024, New Zealand comedian Julian Sewell uploaded a video on TikTok[1] titled, "POV: You're signing divorce papers in 1984," which shows Paloma Diamond as "Dina" having a last conversation with Ricky before their settle their divorce. The video (seen below) amassed more than 14 million plays and 1.6 million likes in a month.

As comedian Julian Sewell posted more skits of the fictional 1984 Paloma Diamond series, TikTokers started to react to the developing forbidden romance between Dina and Rokcy as an ironic fandom watching a telenovela.

For instance, on October 28th, 2024, TikTok[2] user @mami__choola posted a video (seen below) addressing content from the fictional series, writing that "Dina is her own worst enemy." The post amassed roughly 32,000 likes in a day.

Also on October 28th, TikTok[3] user @catlosthouse posted an opening credit sequence of the fictional series, writing, "Big fan of 80s telenovela with charming Paloma Diamond." The video (seen below), garnered over 9,100 likes in a day.
