About
Kson (pronounced [keison]) is a female English and Japanese-speaking VTuber who, as of 2022 is affilated with VShojo. Specializing in video game livestreaming, Kson has streamed on YouTube since 2017 and on Twitch since 2022. Her character model and personality are those of a delinquent.
Online History
Kson's first videos, dating back to May 1st, 2016, were Let's Plays on the Japanese video-hosting site Niconico Douga[1]; she ended up creating a Live Community on June 12th of the same year.[2] Since 2017, she has built her online persona as that of a school delinquent, with huge inspiration from the video game Yakuza. She created a YouTube channel[3] on March 17th, 2017.
Kson's face reveal happened at Niconico Toukaigi's 2018 live event, on February 10th, 2018.[4] She is one among few VTubers to occasionally not use her model during her videos.
In 2020, she created a Mildom channel[5], which she then officially left the next year. She also started streaming on her Twitch account[6] in 2022.
Speculation
Within the VTuber fan community, it has been widely speculated that the same woman could be the public identity of both Kson and ex-Hololive member Kiryu Coco. Among the arguments raised by the supporters of that hypothesis, there are the similarities in both voice and speech between the two VTubers, who also share the same spoken languages and the same harsh manners. Some have noted that the two have made similar blunders in certain videos. They also suggest that KSon cannot openly address that topic due to a silence clause in Coco's Hololive contract. [7]
On July 2nd, 2022, at the Los Angeles Anime Expo, Kson made a surprise appearance during the presentation of the American VTuber company VShojo, and revealed that she had joined its team of "talents" (see below, left); the same day, she released her official lore video on her YouTube account (see below, right). While this news was widely acclaimed online, it also led some Chinese activists to start a boycott campaign against the company, due to Kiryu Coco's mention of the country of Taiwan in an older video.
Online Presence
As of 2022, Kson has 58k followers on Niconico Douga, 690k followers on Twitter[8], 1.22 million followers on YouTube, and 156k followers on Twitch. There are also 4.8k members on her dedicated subreddit.[9]
