About

Agenda Piece refers to an alternative and sarcastic name for the anime and manga series One Piece. The slang term was coined by the series' fandom in mid-2021 on Twitter / X, and it's used as a way to criticize fans trying to push their opinions about who is the strongest character in the show. The expression is also commonly utilized by fans trying to prove Zoro is not the most powerful member of the straw hat crew.

Origin

Although the exact origin of the term "Agenda Piece" is unknown, one of the earliest mentions was posted on May 1st, 2021, by X[1] user @RoyNewgate, who replied to a tweet trying to make fun of Zoro's katana Enma by saying, "Agenda piece be hitting." The post (shown below) amassed roughly 30 likes in three years.

Spread

The expression became more prevalent in November 2023 as X[2] user @greninjajoestar shared a thread featuring the best Agenda Piece memes (examples shown below), which largely consisted of making fun of a character's power or trying to prove a character is weaker than other or mock the series creator powerscalling logics for the manga. The thread amassed more than 11,000 likes and 1,100 retweets in four months.

Agenda Piece is also frequently mentioned on X when a new chapter of the manga is released or leaked, leaving the One Piece fandom in mayhem arguing about their favorite characters. For example, on February 7th, 2024, X[3] user @JPeterGod uploaded a fan-made animation of the Luffy vs. Kizaru fight, which was created by Torra TV, paired with the caption "Agenda piece when Luffy Vs Kizaru gets animated will reach new levels of toxicity." The tweet (shown below) amassed more than 57,000 views and 1,200 likes in a week.
