Overview

Ai16z or Eliza AI Agent is an open-source, decentralized and community-driven artificial intelligence built on the Solana blockchain that users build and deploy flexible, scalable autonomous bot agents capable of consistently interacting across various platforms, including Discord, X / Twitter and Telegram. The AI agent gained viral attention in early December 2024 after the X community and user @SHL0MS announced the AI tool was being integrated to manage the content of two prominent meme and gimmick accounts on the platform, @god (God) and @s8n (Satan). Eliza also became the most downloaded AI repository on GitHub in December of the same year. A meme coin and cryptocurrency inspired by the AI tool was released in the same period as ai16z, being labeled as the first AI-led DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) venture capital firm led by Al agents.

History

The earliest online appearance of ai16z was posted on the official @ai16zdao X^[1] account on November 1st, 2024. The tweet shows the brand mascot, an AI-generated anime woman character (seen below), which gained roughly 2,200 views and 30 likes in a month.

On November 18th, 2024, Globe Newswire^[2] announced that Ai16z^[3] and Ryze Labs companies partnered to launch an AI combinator program "Eliza" with a $5 million fund to support developers.

As of December 13th, 2024, the GitHub^[7] page for ai16z received over 4,200 stars and 1,200 forks on the platform, with over 148 contributors on the project.

Meme Coin and Market Performance

The meme coin, also called AI16Z, launched in late October 2024.^[8] According to the crypto-tracking site CoinMarketCap,^[4] the total supply of ai16z is 1.09 billion AI16Z. As of mid-December 2024, the market cap is $891 million.

At its peak in mid-December 2024, the coin reached a cap of 962 million AI16Z. On December 12th, 2024, the meme coin reached a valuation of $0.8108.^[4]

Online Presence

Posts about Ai16z became increasingly more frequent going into December 2024. For example, on December 11th, 2024, X^[5]
user @palis uploaded two screenshots showing the AI crypto coin, comparing it with the VIRTUAL token, calling it "the largest AI crypto market cap." The tweet amassed more than 410 likes and 47 reposts in two days.

On December 11th, 2024, the creator of the Ai16z token was a guest on the Bankless YouTube^[6] channel, which amassed more than 18,000 views and 720 likes in two days.
