Aimee Terese refers to a series of photoshopped screenshots of a fake Twitter handle called “@aimeeterese.” The handle has been banned from Twitter since April of 2006, but this has not stopped the continuous attributions of tweets to her account. Always portrayed as an Australian woman drinking out of a red bull with a straw on Twitter, commentary from the Aimee Terese character would often resemble that of a constantly online 4chan incel or a fox news watching boomer. No one knows where the photo for the fake account was taken, but the evidence provided seems to point that there was never an Aimee Terese or @aimeeterese account on twitter. Often, the ridiculousness of the character was an inside joke to many leftists, who'd share fake tweets by Aimee to mock the idiots over at stupidpol.

Absurdity

This meme is defined by the incongruence of stated opinions. Aimee’s character was supposedly an Australian Marxist, but was defined by her obsession with American presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. The character viewed identity politics as harming the conversation on the left, while also at one point being portrayed as tweeting that Greta Thunberg should be able to consent to sexual activity.
Despite being Australian, those who made the memes would often portray her as being awake during daylight hours in the United States. Further, each meme would insist she was on a different real sounding podcast that actually did not exist (e.g. “Last Stop on the Left”, “Shout of Left Field”, “Dead Pundits Society”). Later it became popular to make Aimee seem like she actually hated Sanders and unions altogether, this meme was known as Dark Aimee and consisted of sharing groypers to own libs.
