About
Amica Cream or Arnica Cream refers to a meme from the Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp Trial after the product came up in testimony in April 2022. According to the testimony, Amica cream has the ability to drastically change how someone heals from injuries, purportedly reducing swelling and bruising. In memes following the trial's mention of the product, most parodied the claims and exaggerated them to humorous levels.
Origin
On April 12th, 2022, Amica cream was brought up during the testimony of Isaac Baruch in which it was specifically asked if Amber Heard had put on the cream during a time that he saw her shortly after it was alleged that Depp had bruised her. This soon became an important part of the case in which photos of Heard after the alleged abuse by Depp occurred did not seem to corroborate Heard's accusations. The mention of the cream was recorded from the livestream and uploaded to YouTube as part of a reaction by the channel LegalBytes,[1] where it gained over 245,000 views in two weeks (shown below).
Spread
After it was mentioned in the trial, Amica cream then began seeing a surge in discussions online, primarily in tweets about the trial, and the supposed effects of the cream on either healing from bruises or helping in faking bruises. For example, on April 18th, 2022, the Twitter account @felicia_fp1990[2] tweeted a meme of police officers claiming that the Amica cream was so strong they couldn't even recognize Amber Heard when they showed up to take a statement (shown below).
On April 27th, 2022, the Twitter account @lyndawolowicz[3] uploaded an explanatory picture that supposedly showed the days of some of the allegations and aftermath, as well as gives an explanation and talks about the Amica cream used by Heard (shown below).
