Amber Heard Revenge Poop, also known as Amber Heard Turd or Amber Heard Poop, refers to an incident allegedly involving actress Amber Heard or one of her friends pooping in Johnny Depp's bed in 2016 on her birthday. Depp claimed it was a prank from Heard, which Heard refuted was one of their Yorkie dogs. The story and photos were used as evidence against Heard in both 2020 and 2022 amid the Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp trial. The development in early 2022 inspired reactions and memes across social media, like on Twitter where the hashtags #MePoo and #AmberTurd were trending in late April 2022.

Origin

On July 14th, 2020, news outlets like Page Six^[1] reported that evidence surfaced amid the 2020 London trial between Heard vs. Depp that Heard or one of her friends had allegedly pooped in Depp's bed on her 30th birthday, April 21st, 2016, following a fight between the pair. The couple's housekeeper at the time, Hilda Vargas, had to write a statement to the court explaining that she arrived at the celebrity’s penthouse around 3 p.m. the day after the birthday party only to find a poop placed on the bedsheets. Depp's legal team provided pictures of Amber Heard's poop to the court (shown below).

After the evidence was levied against Heard in 2020, her legal team denied the accusations, stating that the neither actress nor her friends were responsible for the poop.^[1] They instead suggested that Depp might have been behind it himself.

On July 14th, 2020, Twitter^[2] user truthhurts06 posted two images of the poop in a tweet that earned roughly 1,000 likes in two years (shown below). Truthhurts06 stated in the tweet that Heard blamed it on their dogs, however, truthhurts06, among others, did not believe the statement, claiming it was too big to be from a Yorkie.

The story didn't surface again en masse until April 2022. On April 20th, 2022, the photos and story were used as evidence in the trial between Heard and Depp that took place in Fairfax, Virginia. Due to the trial being nationally televised, YouTubers were able to record and repost Depp's retelling of the story. On April 21st, 2022, YouTube channel A Cup Of Tea & Slice Of T.V. reposted the clip and earned roughly 43,100 views in one day (shown below).

As the evidence was made well-known on April 20th, 2022, the topic trended in memes and across social media going into the rest of April. For instance, on April 20th, Twitter^[3] user Erikodex posted a picture of Heard kissing one of her Yorkie dogs, captioning it, "Amber and Johnny's dog arguing who shit the bed," along with the hashtags #AmberTurd and #MePoo, the latter of which related to the #MeToo Movement which Heard's original, 2020 defense built off. The tweet received roughly 4,400 likes in two days (shown below, left). Also on the 20th of April, Twitter^[4] user mocking_media posted a meme that earned roughly 2,300 likes in two days (shown below, right).

Multiple memes about Amber Heard pooping on Johnny Depp's bed surfaced on Reddit in late April 2022. For instance, on April 21st, 2022, Redditor LawrenceOnKeyboard posted a GIF to /r/memes ^[5] that captioned a poop from Jurassic Park with, "Johnny Depp noticing there's something off with his bed:" The meme earned roughly 38,200 upvotes in one day (shown below).
