About

Emory Andrew Tate III or Cobra Tate is a former professional kickboxer and Big Brother contestant and current YouTuber, podcaster and content creator known for his controversial self-help videos where he shares his opinions on dating, women, business, being an alpha-male and making money. Tate participated in kickboxing events from 2007 to 2020 and began posting content online in 2018 on his YouTube channel "TateSpeech," often espousing controversial, conservative-leaning and "red-pilled" viewpoints, including problematic and misogynistic advice on women and dating and advice on how to make money and succeed at life. Tate has been involved in several controversies, including being kicked off Big Brother after a video of him whipping a woman surfaced and accusations of human trafficking in relation to a webcam ring he runs with his brother Tristan. In mid-2022, Tate was banned from all Meta platforms like Instagram and Facebook due to his negative influence on young men and children.

History

Kickboxing Career

Between 2007 and 2020, Tate was best known as a professional kickboxer. He was the ISKA World Full-Contact Light Cruiserweight Champion in 2009, 2011 and 2013 respectively. In 2014 he was named the Enfusion World Champion.[1] Tate's last fight was on December 16th, 2020, during the KO Masters 8 tournament, where he won against Cosmin Lingurar.

Big Brother 17 Appearance

In June 2016, Tate became a contestant on the 17th season of the U.K. reality TV series Big Brother. Tate lasted seven days before he was removed from the show, which occurred after several videos of him being abusive to women were released online. The original video shows him whipping an ex-girlfriend with a belt. According to OK!,[2] two other videos came out after the first showing Tate asking a woman to count the bruises he gave her, saying, “If you behaved I wouldn’t have to hit you, would I?” A second clip shows him whipping a woman for not listening to him, and also pulling her hair.

In an interview, Tate claims that the videos are "bullshit" and an excuse to kick him off, saying he was actually kicked off the show for getting in altercations with some of the other housemates. Tate claims the violent acts were consensual. He believes his previous career as a fighter encouraged them to kick him off, as they thought things might get violent between him and the housemates (since removed).

TateSpeech

On March 5th, 2018, Tate uploaded his first video to the TateSpeech YouTube channel, titled, "Tate on Gun Control | Episode #1" (since removed). In the video, he and his brother discuss gun control. Andrew takes a stance against more gun control laws.

On March 6th, he uploaded a video titled "Tate on Women | Episode #2." In the video, he drives around in his car while disavowing feminism and claiming that women need men to survive, but men do not need women to survive. At the 2:00-minute mark, he says, "men are better than women, that's my point. I'm not sexist, I'm realistic and reality is sexist" (since removed). The video gained over 119,000 views in four years.

Some of the most viewed videos on the channel include a short from his interview on the Your Mom's House podcast where he tells viewers "what men really want," gaining over 2.5 million views in five months and a video where a psychologist talks with Tate, gaining over 1.2 million views in a year (since removed).

Webcam Business / Human Trafficking Investigation

In an interview with the Fresh & Fit podcast on March 20th, 2022, Tate describes how he founded a webcam business in the mid-2010s where users pay money to chat and interact with women via webcam. He describes hiring several women for the site, calling them all his girlfriends, and setting up the studio in his apartment in the U.K., promising them they'll be rich. He claims to have been making over $600,000 a month with around 75 women working for him. He then tells a story about firing one of the women after she threw up on the floor and refused to clean it up, resulting in him throwing her belongings out the window and kicking her out. Tate claims she lied to the police and said he hit her. The police came to his house and confiscated his devices. He moved his business to Romania shortly after.

On April 13th, 2022, Twitter[3] user @heardbeliever posted a thread sharing reports that Andrew and Tristan Tate's mansion in Romania was raided by the police after receiving reports that an American woman was being held captive at the home. On April 14th, Tate uploaded a video to YouTube[4] where he discusses the raid. In the video, he says the girl was cheating on her boyfriend with Tristan, who stopped calling her. This allegedly prompted the girl to tell her boyfriend that she was held there against her will, sparking the reports. Tate claims the CCTV footage proves their innocence. The story was reported on by the Daily Beast[5] and Spy News,[6] which shared CCTV footage allegedly showing the woman picking up a pizza from the front gate.

In the Twitter thread by @heardbeliever, he shares a clip where Tate allegedly implies that 40 percent of the reason he moved to Romania is that it's easier to get off on rape charges, claiming he disagrees with the U.S.'s definition of what constitutes rape (shown below).

On April 8th, 2022, Brittany Broski appeared on the H3 Podcast. In one segment of the show, they react to numerous videos by Tate, making fun of him and calling him an incel (shown below).

On April 15th, a clip was uploaded to the H3 Podcast Highlights channel where he reacts to Tate's human trafficking raid (shown below, left). In May, the Tate brothers responded to Ethan, "roasting" Ethan and his wife (since removed).

The stream was extremely popular, peaking at around 266,000 viewers and breaking Ross' concurrent viewers record.[14] The clip was uploaded to YouTube the next day, gaining over 3.5 million views in two weeks (shown below).

Debate With Hasan Piker

On July 21st, 2022, streamer Hasan Piker joined a stream with Fortnite player Clix and Tate. During the stream, Piker refutes Tate's claim that women are worse drivers than men. During the debate, he cites the insurance industry's tendency to give men higher rates than women because they're statistically worse drivers as proof of his claim. Tate rebuttals the argument, saying he speaks from personal experience rather than empirical evidence. Hasan is kicked from the stream shortly after, with Tate calling him "boring."

On July 22nd, Piker was added to another Twitch call between Tate, Adin Ross, XqC and several other streamers where he criticizes Tate's Hustlers University program (shown below).

Tate offers a free ebook and newsletter through his site website[12] called "Tales of Wudan," which recounts his alleged previous life as a warrior living on Wudan mountain. The description on the site describes how Tate believes he lived "5,000 human years atop Wudan mountain" in a previous life under the training of a priest master, Shi Yan Hui. The site reads:

In a previous life, I lived 5000 human years atop Wudan mountain. I remember every lived second. Life is competition. Competition is violence. In many modern forms of competition we have attempted to water down the violent aspects, to replicate violence in the most sanitised way. We have full grown men, growing as large and strong as possible – to put a ball in a net, as opposed to hurting each other. But the sentiment is the same. It’s a group of men at war with another – with one team being victors. And the other being losers.

Several pages of the "Tales of Wudan" have been uploaded to Artstation[13] by user Mengistu Etim featuring original artwork showing Tate in training (examples shown below).

Tales of Wudan Priest master Shi Yan Hui was teaching me In the garden. "You must purify your thoughts. When you think of rain, you must only see rain. Not the trees it lands on or the clouds it comes from."He in- structed. I was sitting in lotus position, I nodded. "I bet you have never had a pure thought in your life, have you!" He began to rant "How can you expect to master Wudan, if you cannot give your whole mind to anything?" He stood up and pulled a thin flexible branch from underneath his robe. "I will show you how to dedicate your mind to a single thought!" he said. I heard it whistle through the air as it struck the top of my head. With the crack of a whip blood being to pour down my face as the branch had broken the skin in a perfectly straight line, as if a knife had been run along the top of my skull. The pain was unbearable, I couldn't retain focus. I grabbed my head and began to scream in agony. "Ha! Your first pure thought, pain!" he mused. Tales of Wudan On my last night atop Wudan, Master Po and I sat atop the largest rock. We sat together with our eyes closed. 42 breaths per minute, in perfect sync. Such was the way of Wudan. At 3am, when the night was darkest I opened my eyes and saw Master Po star- ing at the moon. Tears streamed down his face. His breathing pattern hadn't broken. "Why are you crying?" I asked. He didn't reply. I turned my head to look at the moon, and cried with him. It was at this point Tateshinkai was mastered. ~ Tateshinkai Story by Andrew Tate Illustration by Mengistu Etim FattZİH

Andrew Tate Banned From Social Media

On August 19th, 2022, Andrew Tate was banned from Meta's Instagram, Facebook and all other platforms for violating community guidelines based on its "dangerous organizations and individuals" policy.[15] Twitter had already banned a series of Tate accounts between 2016 and 2022, while accidentally verifying one in 2022 before removing it.[16] TikTok then banned Tate on Monday, August 22nd, 2022.[17] YouTube followed suit, permanently banning Tate on Tuesday August 23rd, 2022.[22]

But while Tate's own content had been removed, videos and posts of him speaking and sharing his views were still very accessible across several platforms. A Media Matters report about the availability of Tate videos on TikTok underscored this point, showing just how accessible highly followed users reposting Tate content remains.[18] A screenshot from the Media Matters report (seen below) showed the quantity of Tate fan accounts that still existed on the platform following Tate's removal from TikTok.

Just prior to his ban, Tate's reach and audience had dramatically increased. His Instagram account, which had 4.7 million followers at the time of its removal, gained 2 million of those followers in the month before it was deleted.[19] Google search interest in Tate also exploded in the months before his removal, showing that he rapidly gained a footing online after years of being marginally involved with right-wing online influencers like Jack Posobiec and Alex Jones. Civil society leaders and teachers around the world expressed concern about Tate's purported influence over young men and his reach. Instagram posts like one, from user @the.unteachables, which was posted on August 12th, 2022, and received over 5,000 likes, offered advice for teachers dealing with Tate followers in their classrooms.[20]

When you hear your students laughing about/speaking positively of him Don't: Just tell them to stop talking about it and say it is inappropriate. Do: Explore (privately) with the student/s why it is they are seeing it positively and what is funny about it. Name it "when you laugh at this, you are saying it is okay to.... This is not how we can and should act for reasons XYZ... Those videos are actually very harmful, violent and misogynistic, do you know why?" Again, it is about digging deep, naming it for what it is, educating the students and making it a big deal. @the.unteachables

Tweets commenting on Tate's removal from social media platforms were widely shared, such as this one from August 21st, 2022, by English rapper and YouTuber KSI, which received over 310,000 likes in less than a day.[21]

TikTok told Insider that it is also using special software to both delete content related to Tate and reposts of his videos by others and prevent content related to him from ending up on For You pages.[23] Some posters, such as Twitter's @micsolana who shared their view (seen below) on August 23rd, 2022 and received just over 850 likes in an hour, were disturbed by what the Tate episode showed about the power of the social media platforms and the tools at their disposal to regulate public conversations and remove users like Tate. They feared these tools could be used against others later on.[24]

Mike Solana @micsolana : nobody cares about andrew tate. we care about the horrifying innovation of a coordinated platform censorship that now includes erasing all semblance of a person, on any account, discussing any topic whatsoever. in a world where targeting politicians is already normalized. 2:19 PM Aug 23, 2022 Twitter for iPhone 140 Retweets 8 Quote Tweets 856 Likes

Common Tate W

Tate's fans use it to label when Tate owns someone in a debate or gives solid advice about hustle culture or pick-up culture regarding male attractiveness towards women. Most of its use is ironic from Tate's skeptics and haters who believe Sigma Male discourse overall is cringe. A meme template similar to Average Fan vs. Average Enjoyer but using Tate and xQc emerged as well as a snowclone, wherein, users would follow the phrasal template: "Common X W."

Andrew Tate Has Been Banned From X

Common Tate W is a catchphrase and spam comment used by Andrew Tate fans. Its meaning, definition and translation are "common, Andrew Tate win." Tate's fans use it to label when Tate owns someone in a debate or gives solid advice about hustle culture or pick-up culture regarding male attractiveness towards women.
