Bottom G, also known as Gay Andrew Tate or Andrew Ate, refers to a queer and LGBTQ+ version of male influencer Andrew Tate that plays on his nickname "Top G." Videos of a gay Andrew Tate lookalike, also known as gay Andrew Tate doppelgänger or gay Andrew Tate twin, surfaced on Instagram and TikTok, specifically referencing creator Brian Michael Hinds (@brianmichaelhinds) who filmed himself dancing, pretending that he was Andrew Tate as "Bottom G."


Gay Andrew Tate Walking

On August 4th, 2022, TikToker[1] chlxdy posted a video of an Andrew Tate lookalike walking with the song "Material Girl" set to his pace and text overlay showing the pink-painted nails and pride flag emojis. Over the course of three months, the video received roughly 268,200 plays and 7,200 likes (shown below, left). Soon after on August 4th, 2022, TikToker[2] posted a cropped version of the walking video, inserting it after a podcaster's Instagram video praising Andrew Tate's masculinity. The video received roughly 18.7 million plays and 3 million likes (shown below, right).

Gay Andrew Tate Dancing in a Nightclub

On August 9th, 2022, TikToker[3] pearsecullenn posted a nightclub video of a tall, bald man dancing with text overlay reading, "Rare footage of Andrew Tate bussin it down at a club." Over the course of three months, the video received roughly 18.9 million plays and 3.7 million likes (shown below, left). On August 12th, 2022, TikToker[4] creemierr posted a meme compilation that started with the nightclub video, captioning it, "Nahhh tell me that aint andrew tate😭," and earning roughly 32,500 plays and 5,600 likes in three months (shown below, right).

Bottom G / Brian Michael Hinds

On August 19th, 2022, Andrew Tate was banned from all of Meta's platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. This was quickly followed by a ban from YouTube and TikTok as well.

Inspired by the bans, on August 21st, 2022, TikToker[5] posted a video of him dancing with his back turned to the camera, writing in text overlay, "Andrew Tate after finding out his IG got deleted," due to his resemblance to Tate. Over the course of three months, the video received roughly 6.8 million plays and 1.1 million likes (shown below, left). Hinds continued posting videos with the same theme thereafter, calling himself "Bottom G." For instance, on September 7th, 2022, he posted a TikTok[6] that showed Tate "being a gentleman" and gained roughly 27.8 million plays and 3.7 million likes in two months (shown below, right).
