Bass Dogs is a single topic Tumblr blog that curates a series of photoshopped images in which well-known bassists are shown as if they are petting dogs instead of strumming their instruments.
Origin
The Tumblr blog Bass Dogs[1] was created on July 28th, 2013 by Scottish artist Michael M (@michaelmphysics).[2]
Spread
On July 29th, 2013, the official Facebook page[3] for the blog was created. On August 1st, Buzzfeed[6] published a list titled "The 14 Step Guide To Playing A Bass Dog." The blog was covered by Kotaku[11] on August 6th, The Chive[7] on August 7th, and The Laughing Squid[8] on August 8th. It was also covered by Internet culture blogs Bored Panda[12], The Awesome[13], Pleated Jeans[14], Mashable [15], The Frisky[16], 9gag[17] and Metafilter.[18] Bass Dogs was also covered by a variety of music blogs including Metal Sucks[19], Metal Insider[20] and Complex[21], as well as newspaper Metro.[22]
