Bella Hadid At The Gas Station, also known as POV: Bella Hadid and Nobody: Bella Hadid:, is a viral video and TikTok trend that features users recreating a paparazzi clip of influencer Bella Hadid at a gas station from early 2022. The parody videos depict creators walking around with a phone held to their ear, often with their back arched and midriff exposed mimicking the original footage of Hadid. In July 2022, Bella Hadid joined in on the trend and made multiple videos set to the mashup of "Streets" by Doja Cat and "Worst Behavior" by Ariana Grande used in the skits.

Origin

On January 12th, 2022, TikToker^[1] @gbelxz posted paparazzi footage of Bella Hadid at a gas station in Los Angeles wearing sunglasses, a crop top and a pair of low-rise pants while talking on the phone, set to a mashup of "Streets" by Doja Cat^[2] and "worst behavior" by Ariana Grande.^[3] The post accrued 11.9 million plays and 1.8 million likes in seven months (seen below).

On January 24th, TikToker^[2] @thekevinbojorquezz then posted the first parody of the paparazzi video set to the same Doja Cat x Ariana Grande mashup song. The TikToker can be seen wearing a crop top and athletic shorts, walking around and twirling while speaking on their phone similar to the original. The video also included a text overlay that read, "No one: Bella Hadid at the gas station:" The video gained over 5 million plays and over 850,000 likes in seven months (seen below).

Spread

The parody trend mimicking Bella Hadid's look and behavior from the gas station pics and clip slowly spread on TikTok over the following months. For example, on February 23rd, 2022, TikToker^[3] @ellajubilee recreated the video by pacing around while wearing sunglasses, a crop top and a pair of low-rise pants. The video contained a text overlay that also read "No one: Bella Hadid:," accumulating over 700,000 plays and 140,000 likes in five months (seen below, left).

On March 15th, 2022, TikToker @thekevinbojorquezz posted another video impersonating Bella Hadid, this time with a text overlay that read "POV: Bella Hadid cooking 💕." The post gained over 2.6 million plays and over 450,000 likes in four months (seen below, right).

On April 21st, TikToker^[4] @adam.ldb posted a video featuring a girl in sweatpants and a crop top walking around with her phone held to her ear. The text overlay read, "Bella Hadid spotted in Paris," with the post garnering over 2.2 million plays and 300,000 likes in three months (seen below, left). On May 13th, TikToker^[5] @maralafontan made a video with a caption that read, "POV: Bella Hadid goes on vacation," gathering over 2.6 million views and 400,000 likes in two months (seen below, right).

On May 7th, TikToker^[6] @belllahadiiid posted a video that spliced a compilation of "POV: Bella Hadid" videos with a photo of the teary-eyed model. The caption read "They don’t deserve you!<\3," much to the amusement of TikTokers in the comments. The post accumulated over 200,000 plays and 32,000 likes in three months.

Bella Hadid's Recreation of the Trend

On July 16th, 2022, Bella Hadid posted a video of herself participating in the trend from her official TikTok^[7] account, @babybella777, which subsequently caused a resurgence in the trend. The 2x speed video featured her walking around with her signature phone-to-ear stance, wearing a crop top and low-rise jeans, while occasionally flipping off the cameraman (seen below, left). The post gathered over 23 million plays and 4.9 million likes in two weeks. She soon posted another video on the same date following the same format, this time featuring a friend (seen below, right), which accumulated over 1.9 million likes and 10.3 million views in a similar timeframe.
