About

Bison Tossing Man in Yellowstone Video, also known as Man Gets Tossed by Bison, Bison Throws Man in Yellowstone or Bison Attacks Old Man in Yellowstone, is a viral video of a bull bison (or buffalo) charging at an elderly tourist in Yellowstone National Park, hitting and launching him high into the air during the attack. The video appeared online in mid-July 2026 and quickly received widespread media coverage, sparking discourse, memes and other reactions on the internet as it spread.

The clip, and others, of the animal rampaging through campgrounds in Bridge Bay in Yellowstone was recorded by Facebook user Mike MacLeod. The old man in the video who was attacked was later identified as Carl Isom-McDaniel. According to reports, he suffered multiple broken bones but otherwise survived the encounter.

Origin

The animal attack took place on July 10th, 2026, at the campgrounds in Bridge Bay in Yellowstone National Park.

Just after midnight on July 11th, Facebook[1] user and Yellowstone National Park professional photographer Mike MacLeod captured and posted the video that later went viral, among other clips of the bull bison rampaging through campsites. The initial post garnered over 626,000 views, 1,600 reactions and 30 comments in two days. In his post, MacLeod said:

This evening, we had just settled into a campsite at Bridge Bay in Yellowstone when this pissed-off bull bison ran through camp. Just a few minutes after this video, I shot footage of a grandfather and his grandson getting chased around a pine tree, and then the grandfather was flipped at least eight feet in the air. He did not get g-red, so the EMS folks think he will be okay.

Around 11 a.m. EST on July 11th, MacLeod then posted a still image taken from his video of the bison throwing the tourist into the air, receiving over 10,400 reactions and 3,300 shares in two days. In the post, he wrote:

Here’s a screen capture from the video we shot last night of an angry bull bison flipping a man in a Yellowstone campground. In Montana, we all want to pile on “tourons of Yellowstone,” and many times, that’s justified, but in this case, the video suggests otherwise. I will post the video later.

EDIT: We are in contact with the man’s grandson, who was also there when the bison attacked. The grandfather has some pretty significant injuries and is not out of the woods yet.

The full video recorded by MacLeod, which includes the moment with the man being launched into the air by the bison, was then acquired and published by the news outlet Cowboy State Daily[3] in an article titled "Tourist Seriously Injured After Yellowstone Bison Launches Man 8 Feet In The Air" on July 11th.

The video was uploaded to the Cowboy State Daily YouTube channel shortly after, garnering over 893,500 views, 3,000 likes and 980 comments in two days.

Late on July 11th, 2026, MacLeod published an additional video to his Facebook[4] of the bison wreaking havoc on the campgrounds at Bridge Bay just before the older guy was attacked, receiving over 1,100 reactions, 400 shares and 20 comments in two days.

@househusband_daily Bison are unpredictable. Remember when going to Yellowstone that while 25 yards away is the recommended minimum distance, you have to stay vigilant, because they can do anything. #fyp #bison #yellowstone #yellowstonenationalpark ♬ original sound – jamss$ – [jaype]
