The "Blue Monday" Battle Trend is a dance trend on TikTok in which two people pretend to fight one another in the style of a fighting video game while Above & Beyond’s song "Blue Monday" plays, a caption appearing next to each participant as they throw attacks to represent an argument. The trend was popularized on the app in mid-March 2024.
Origin
On March 6th, 2024, TikToker[1] @_soomin__4 posted a video in which he and his younger brother dance in a specific way to the song "Blue Monday" by Above & Beoynd, garnering over 16.1 million views in three weeks (shown below). The dance gained viral spread across TikTok.[2]

While it's unclear who started the "battle" trend, TikTokers began making videos in which they represent arguments through fake fights set to the beat of the music that month. One of the earliest viral examples was posted by TikToker[3] @sultxx_officiall on March 21st, garnering over 9.9 million views in a week (shown below, left). One of the earliest english examples was posted on March 22nd by TikToker[4] @solncevapolinaa, garnering over 14.9 million views in a week (shown below, right).

The trend continued to spread throughout March 2024. On March 25th, 2024, TikToker[5] @puwtok posted a video doing the trend that gained over 12.8 million views in three days (shown below).

On March 27th and 28th, TikTokers[6][7] @brookemonk_ and @haleyybaylee posted videos doing the trend that gained over 8.3 million views and 3.5 million views respectively in two days (shown below). On the 27th, Dexerto[8] reported on the trend.
