Bouncing Yaris, also known as Bouncy Yaris and Why's this dealer?, is a low-resolution loop (or sometimes GIF) of a bouncing grey Toyota Yaris XP10 hatchback, with the song Niko B – Why's this dealer? playing over it. The song is a humorous speed garage song about a man impatiently waiting for his drug dealer to arrive and performing random tasks to stave off boredom and avoid looking suspicious. The loop itself is a cropped segment from the music video of the aforementioned song.

Origin

The song itself was released on the 28th of August, 2024, the music video being released one day later. The music video contained retro/cartoonish special effects created by @thesabdog, one of which was a bouncing Yaris in the background between approximately 1:04 and 1:08. On the 2nd of September, 2024, @balfield cropped that segment to include only the Yaris and looped it, overlaying the first half of the song's chorus, uploading the resultant 7-second video to TikTok.

Spread

On the 4th of September, 2024, Kãrvao used that same video segment but instead overlayed the whole song onto it, not just a 7-second segment, and uploaded it to YouTube. From there, it spread further, into a 1-hour version, a 10-hour version, and parodies; recreations of the meme in Garry's Mod and Grand Turismo 2, an animation using a different car and background, and a pixel art version using a pink Yaris and a different song as a reference to Gran Turismo 4. A Bouncing Yaris Garry's Mod asset was made available on the Steam Workshop.
