Broly Culo / Broly Ass is a fanmade image of Dragon Ball character Broly squatting semi-nude with his legs spread apart. The image became popular in March 2019.

Origin

The completed Broly Culo / Broly Ass image was posted^[1] to Patreon by illustrator Absolutbleu on November 20th, 2017. Titled "Broly Bubble," Absolutbleu created it as a result of Broly winning a poll on his Patreon. The image shows Broly, wearing only his bracers and boots, squatting with his legs spread apart and looking over his shoulder towards the viewer (shown below). Broly's pose in the image is similar to Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" pose.

Spread

The earliest mention of "Broly Culo" on Twitter is a December 27th, 2018 reply^[2] to a since-deleted tweet. The first meme featuring Broly Culo was indexed^[3] on the site Me.me on January 1st, 2019 (shown below, left). On January 3rd, the meme was posted^[4] to the subreddit r/ComedyHeaven by Redditor heisenfgt, receiving over 600 upvotes before being archived. On January 12th, Lil B tweeted^[5] an edited Broly Culo image reading "I <3 Lil B," gaining over 25k likes and 6.7k retweets since being posted (shown below, right). The image was posted^[6] to r/Cringetopia on February 4th, receiving over 250 upvotes before being archived.

Heavy, Huh?

On January 5th, 2019, Brazilian artist Paollo Vardiero Rabiscos posted to Facebook^[7] and Instagram^[8] fanart of Goku, Mr. Incredible, The Hulk, and Mighty Mouse attempting to lift a cross with Jesus remarking "Tá pesada, né?" (Portuguese for "It’s heavy, right?") (shown below). This is a Biblical reference to Jesus carrying the cross on the way to his crucifixion.

Sometime on or before February 26th, 2019, a Spanish version of the image with Broly Culo superimposed on Mighty Mouse began circulating (shown below, left).^[9][10][11] In the image, Broly’s face is erased to look like he is facing the cross. The image’s exact source is unknown. The following day, the image was tweeted^[12] by Twitter user @memefeos, where it gained over 2.5k likes. An English version with Jesus saying "Heavy, huh?" was made^[13][14][15] as early as February 28th (shown below, right). The next day, on March 1st, YouTuber Demetrius Harmon retweeted^[16] the English version image from user @MagicCaribou with the comment "lmao bro why is that nigga ass out," receiving over 82k likes and 17k retweets since being posted. It was also posted^[17] on March 3rd to Tumblr by user mediumsizedboy, where the image gained more than 22k notes over two years.
