#BTRBandParody is a hashtag used to upload fan art and redraw memes of the Bocchi The Rock anime series by parodying album covers from various bands as reference.

Origin

The author of the Bocchi the Rock manga, Aki Hamaji, parodies album covers on some pages (example shown below, left). This inspired artists to draw fan art using other album covers as references. For example, on October 29th, 2022, Twitter[1] user @youjohan_me uploaded fan art of the Kessoku Band by using the 1994 Oasis Definitely Maybe album cover as a reference. The tweet received more than 18,200 likes and 5,000 retweets (shown below, right).

However, the earliest use of the hashtag was posted on November 5th, 2022, when Facebook[2] user Fajar AR uploaded fan art of Bocchi The Rock using the Indonesian band Dewa 19's Terbaik Terbaik cover as a reference. The post received 77 reacctions and 148 shares in one week (shown below).

Later that day, the hashtag grew popular among Indonesians who began posting more Bocchi The Rock album cover parodies. For example on November 6th, 2022, Facebook[3] user Fajar Ekka Setyawan uploaded fan art using Indonesian band Peterpan's Sebuah Nama, Sebuah Cerita cover as a reference. The post received 323 reactions and 302 shares (shown below, left). On the next day, Facebook[4] user Dif Syahbana uploaded fan art by using the Indonesian band Vierra's My First Love cover as a reference. The post received 717 reactions and 418 shares (shown below, right).

The trend also grew popular on Twitter among a global audience. On November 7th, 2022, Facebook[5] and Twitter[6] user Ivanshinoda uploaded fan art using Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight. The post received 218 reactions and 150 shares, 791 likes and 290 retweets, respectively (shown below, left). The next day, Facebook[7] and Twitter[8] user Anfortunate uploaded fan art using Gorillaz's Demon Days cover. The post received 67 reactions and 75 shares, 1,186 likes and 506 retweets, respectively (shown below, right).

On November 7th, 2022, Twitter[9] user @vlaskaaaaaa uploaded fan art using Weezer's The Blue Album cover. The tweet received 1,118 likes and 539 retweets (shown below, left). The next day, Twitter[10] user @Niz12iki uploaded a redraw using an infamous Luiz Fellipe album cover. The tweet received 1,750 likes and 527 retweets (shown below, right).
