About
Hitori Gotō, also known as Bocchi, is a main character from the Bocchi The Rock! manga and anime series. She is a teenage girl who is invited to join a band by the character Nijika Ijichi. Bocchi gained appreciation among fans, with many memes relating to her life, with fans praising and parodying her as a ""literally me" character":https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/literally-me-guys.
Origin
Bocchi first appeared in "chapter 0" of the manga series. In the chapter, she's in middle school and wants to find a place where a gloomy, loner person can be famous. Watching TV one day, she learns about a rock band in which one of the members used to be gloomy before becoming popular. She then tries to play the electric guitar with her father (shown below, left and right).

After the anime adaptation premiered on October 8th, 2022, the character became a hit with fans, many of whom found her relatable. On October 26th, 2022, Twitter[1] user @dorontabi uploaded a 2014 film Whiplash redraw scene using the character. The tweet received more than 34,000 likes and 8,400 retweets in three weeks (shown below, left). On November 4th, 2022, Facebook[2] page "Judon't" uploaded a video captioned "Wasted 11 months doing nothing. 1 more to go" using a dancing clip of Bocchi. The video received more than 99,000 reactions and 69,000 shares in two weeks (shown below, right).
On November 7th, 2022, Twitter[3] user @tunaplus_c uploaded fan art of Bocchi looking at the viewer using The Rock's eyebrow raise as a reference. The tweet received more than 4,900 likes and 900 retweets (shown below, left). On the same day, Facebook[4] page "Shousuke Komi who just wants to watch anime" uploaded a poorly drawn version of Bocchi as a rock, referring to the title. The post received more than 2,600 reactions and 669 shares (shown below, right).
On November 15th, 2022, Facebook[5] page "I Want To Be Punched By Hibiki" uploaded an analog horror BLUE_CHANNEL: THALASIN parody using Bocchi. The video received more than 5,000 reactions and 3,300 shares in three days (shown below).
