About
Change UK's Logo refers to the logo of the political party Change UK – The Independent Group which was ridiculed, mocked and photoshopped after it was unveiled at the party's campaign launch ahead of the 2019 European Parliament elections.
Origin
In February 2019, eleven MPs defected from the Labour Party and Conservative Party in response to their party's handling on different issues, primarilly Brexit. The eleven MPs formed a new group that would sit in the House of Commons as independent MPs, sitting as "The Independent Group".
The Independent Group applied to be a political party to stand in the 2019 European Parliament elections. The Electoral Commission accepted their request but rejected their first logo which was a black box with "TIG #Change" written in an Arial typeface.
Ahead of their campaign launch at the 2019 European Parliament election campaign, Change UK unveiled their new party logo which was ultimately passed by the Electoral Commission.
Reaction
The logo was negatively received by the public due to it's blandness and unoriginality. The logo was panned, mocked and was photoshopped and compared to different parts of pop culture with users on Facebook and Twitter comparing the logo to 'zebra crossings', the 'internet menu taskbar', the retracted Mueller report among many others
