About

Chi Interrupts refers to a series of images and videos of pop culture references being interrupted with a Skype call picture of Lucia Keskin, a British YouTuber who goes by the name Chi with C.

Origin

British YouTuber, Chi with a C was asked to appear on BBC News to discuss how she thought young people were still into the American television series, Friends.

Originally thinking she was to appear on BBC News earlier than expected, she had used Skype to contact the BBC and contacted them during an interview on the BBC News Channel with German journalist Bojan Pancevski discussing about Brexit.

After being made aware, Lucia tweeted the video of the moment she had interrupted the news and had wrote: "AS IF I SKYPED BBC NEWS WHEN THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT BREXIT IM HOWLING"

She then made a video on her YouTube channel explaining the story behind what happened.

Greg James, the BBC Radio 1 breakfast host had retweeted Chi's tweet and had tweeted: "THIS IS INCREDIBLE".

After it had been aired, Bojan Pancevski, the journalist who had been interviewed had tweeted his reaction.

During a conversation between him and Twitter user Mark Tighe, he then found out who she was.

Many of her fans also reached out to her on Twitter and Instagram and started to tell her about what happened.

Media Reaction

Several media outlets such as the Independent's Indy100., The Daily Mail and Kent Online had all released articles on the interruption.

Spread

After it aired, various YouTube and Twitter users started creating photos and videos of Chi's Skype screen being photoshopped on notable events.

YouTuber Patas had uploaded a video of the Queen's Speech from 2018 and had added Chi's Skype screen to the video.

Ronnie Mitchell (@RonMitchellEE), a parody Twitter account of the fictional character of the same name from the British television soap opera EastEnders had photoshopped Chi's Skype picture in front of a screenshot of Bradley Branning, another fictional character from EastEnders jumping off the roof of the Queen Victoria.
