Climax Challenge is a Twitter singing challenge that began after singer The Weeknd accused Usher of copying his song "House of Balloons" with his 2012 song "Climax." In support of Usher, fans on Twitter sang a portion of Usher's song in video posts adding the hashtag #theclimaxchallenge in April 2020.

Origin

On April 8th, 2020, Twitter user @EricBellinger posted a video of himself singing a portion of "Climax" by Usher captioned, "#ClimaxChallenge @theweeknd For the Love of R&B Music 🎤" (shown below). The video gained over 900 likes in two days. The post was made after CNN[1] published an article on The Weeknd's claim that Usher had copied him in 2012.

On April 8th, 2020, Twitter user @Mello_Vibez reposted Usher's Instagram story of himself singing "Climax" adding the caption, "How Usher going too kill his own #ClimaxChallenge" (shown below). The tweet garnered over 1,100 likes and 260 retweets in two days.

That same day, Twitter user @Whoa_Kimbosabe[3] tweeted, "Usher just did the #ClimaxChallenge on his damn back and didn’t miss a note. The Weeknd gotta stop snorting that powder" (shown below, left). The tweet accumulated over 390 likes in two days. The next day, Twitter user @Jovan_Washinton[4] posted, "Ya'll younger millennials are confused & musty for thinking that Usher is washed up Rolling on the floor laughing. Usher can still sing circles, flips, & cartwheels over The Weekend any day #ClimaxChallenge" (shown below, right)). The tweet gained over 760 likes in a day.
