About

C'mon Man, That's Too Easy refers to a series of TikTok videos in which a user posts a comedy skit to describe how they would react to extreme situations using illogical methods like a "house is on fire so I take a shower to survive." The trend started in July 2022 on TikTok and uses a 2015 audio clip from basketball player LeBron James saying "C'mon, man, that's too easy!" to express how easy these challenging situations can be dealt with.

Origin

On May 23rd, 2015, basketball player LeBron James was mic'd up during a game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks. Clips of the game were later uploaded to the NBA's YouTube channel (shown below). One of the phrases went viral on social media, in which James scores a point and screams "C'mon, man, that's too easy!"

The clip of James' line was shared on Reddit[2] and Vine[3] in May 2015 and generated some memes on the platforms.

On July 13th, 2022, TikTok[6] user @1saiahhm used Lebron's clip with the caption "When you post a SZA song on your story and the 10 slides up with 'What you know about her?'" The post went viral, receiving 631,000 views in three months and received a lot of comments asking the user to upload a new video of Lebron's clip so they could use it as audio for other videos.

Spread

The video posted by TikTok user @1saiahhm made Lebron's clip resurface on TikTok, and users started to create skits with the sound. These usually featured the user dealing with an extreme situation using an illogical method. For example, a TikTok[5] by @mohamedfayisa from August 13th, 2022 shows him saying he would survive a falling elevator by jumping right "before it lands." The video received 1.3 million views in one month.
