About
Copy Shark is an image macro series of an image of stuffed toy shark pressed on to a copy machine and the scan the machine made of the shark's face.
Origin
On December 15th, 2018, Twitter [1] user @stabbyloki tweeted, "out of boredom i decided to scan a stuffed shark. here are the results." The post received more than 60,000 retweets and 148,000 likes in two days (shown below).
Spread
Following the tweet, people began photoshopping the image. On December 16th, Twitter[2] user @_rallycap tweeted a photoshopped version of the poster for the film Jaws. The post received more than 1,000 retweets and 3,000 likes in 24 hours (shown below, left).
Throughout the day, people continued to post more versions of the image (examples below, center and right). On December 17th, The Daily Dot posted a listicle of the image.[3]
