About
Corn Day refers to an annual Reddit "prank": event which first took place on July 1st, 2018, participants of which post memes about corn with the intention to confuse those unaware. In July 2019, the second annual Corn Day took place on Reddit.
Origin
On September 4th, 2017, Redditor CautionVeryDank submitted an image macro of a futuristic woman holding a corn cob with the caption "This meme is from the future. You don't get it yet" to /r/MemeEconomy[3] (shown below, left). On June 25th, 2018, Redditor Kennyk11 submitted an image macro featuring stock photos of corn cobs with the caption "On July 1st let's only upvote pictures of corn that way anyone who doesn't see this will be cornfused" (shown below). Over the next five months, the post received more than 29,700 points (86% upvoted) and 540 comments.

On July 1st, 2018, multiple memes about corn were posted in a variety of subreddits, including multiple posts in /r/me_irl, /r/dankmemes and /r/memes.
Corn and Milk
Corn and Milk is a photoshop meme and image macro series containing jokes about the vegetable corn and the drink milk. In July 2018, the memes were flooded on various subreddits as part of the 2018 Corn Day prank orchestrated by users on /r/me_irl.
On June 29th, 2018, Redditor tengo_unchained submitted a post asking "A glass of milk spills. How does each subreddit react?" to /r/AskReddit,[2] where it received more than 11,000 points (89% upvoted) and 4,100 comments over the next five months. In response to the post, Redditor ArcOfRuin commented "r/2meirl4meirl drowns themselves in the milk" to which PedantOfBagels replied "/r/me_irl memes it for the next 8 months" (shown below).
That day, Redditor -Badger2- submitted a Loss meme referencing spilled milk (shown below, left). On July 1st, Redditor mistermagicht submitted a picture of a can of Corn Milk along with the caption "When r/me_irl is upvoting memes about either corn or milk and you want to jump on the karma train" (shown below). Over the next five months, the post garnered upwards of 12,300 points (95% upvoted) and
That day, CollegeHumor[1] published an article about the corn and milk memes. On July 2nd, Redditor TheTurtleMilk21 submitted an image macro of a giant with a corn cob head text to a creature with a glass of milk head to /r/me_irl (shown below).
On September 16th, 2018, Redditor graceamazing12 submitted a Loss edit featuring a corn cob and glass of milk (shown below). Over the next three months, the post gained over 3,600 points (93% upvoted) and 80 comments on /r/PewdiepieSubmissions.[4]
Corn Day 2019
In the week before July 1st, 2019, multiple reposts of the original June 25th, 2018, prank-plotting post by Kennyk11 were made in various subreddits, including /r/memes[5] and /r/me_irl.[6]
On July 1st, multiple posts about corn appeared in /r/dankmemes,[7] /r/me_irl,[8] /r/PewdiepieSubmissions[9] and other subreddits, including reposts of notable submissions from last year (examples shown below).
