About
The Coronavirus Remix is a 2020 remix produced by DJ iMarkkeyz of a viral Instagram video featuring rapper Cardi B ranting about the novel coronavirus and screaming, "Coronavirus! Coronavirus! I’m telling you, shit is real! Shit is gettin’ real!" In March 2020, the song charted on Apple's Music charts.
Origin
On March 10th, 2020, Cardi B published a video about the coronavirus on Instagram.[1] She captioned the post, "Ya keep playing I’m deadass FUCKIN SCARED. I’m stocking up on food." The post received more than 19 million views and 3.7 million likes in less than two weeks.
Three days later, DJ iMarkkeyz published a clip of a remix on Instagram.[2] The post received more than 156,000 likes in less than one week (shown below).
Spread
The following day, iMarkkeyz posted the full song "Coronavirus" on YouTube. The post received more than 391,000 views in less than one week (shown below).
Cardi B's video and the song also inspired several celebrity impersonations. For example, Miley Cyrus published a video of herself and musician and boyfriend Cody Simpson quoting the video (shown below).

Within one week, the song began charting on Apple's music charts. Cardi B posted on Instagram[3] that the song has hit 96 on the Hip-Hop/Rap chart. The post received more than 1 million likes in less than 24 hours (shown below, left). Hours later, she posted[4] that the song reached number 11 (shown below, right).
The song also became a popular sound on TikTok. On March 18th, 2020, the song had more than 1,600 videos on the website (examples below).
Several media outlets covered the song, including The New York Times,[5] Billboard,[6] Entertainment Tonight[7] and more.
