About
Cowboy Jeff Bezos, also known as Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez 2023 Vogue Photoshoot, refers to a viral photo of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos with his wife Lauren Sanchez posing together in a truck while he's wearing a cowboy hat. The picture, taken as part of a photoshoot for Vogue magazine in mid-November 2023, was quickly used in various memes across social media for the way it portrays Bezos with numerous users adding captions to the image or mocking it for being cringe.
Origin
On November 13th, 2023, the official Instagram[1] account for Vogue uploaded the image of Bezos, using it as a picture to tell the recent story of his life after Amazon and his new wife, Lauren Sanchez. The post, made as part of a bigger featured spotlight on Bezos, received over 69,000 likes in seven hours (shown below).
Spread
Reactions to the image immediately started to spread after the initial upload. Later the same day, on November 13th, 2023, the X account @donetodeath[2] uploaded the photo and proclaimed in the caption that "Cowboy Bezos" was killing them, pointing out how humorously out of character it seemed for the ex-Amazon CEO and earning over 285,000 views in seven hours (shown below).
Other reactions to the image brought the cowboy hat and truck into the equation, with the X accounts @Bob_Janke[3] and @Dhtoomey[4] uploading zoomed-out versions of the original picture on November 13th with different captions. In @Bob_Janke's caption, Bezos with the hat on was compared to a country music fan who happened to get rich, while @Dhtoomey's caption was a variation of the We Saw You From Across The Bar and Really Dig Your Vibe meme, replacing "bar" with "oil field" (shown below, left and right).
