About
Cure-chan(治癒ちゃん/キュアちゃん/药酱) is a female anime-style character designed as the anthropomorphic representation of good health, power of medicine and prosperity. The character can be seen as the antithesis to Ebola-Chan.
Origin
On October 13th, 2014, three users from the /f/lockdraw board Skycow.us created a character named Cure-Chan. The concept of Cure-Chan was simple: to promote the usage of vaccines and to create tension between Ebola-Chan posters and people who opposed Ebola-Chan. She was designed to be the opposite of Ebola-Chan, with long flowing light blue hair, taller, and an older, more robust figure.

Spread
While Cure-Chan had a relatively slow spread at first, she caught on towards January of 2015 and beyond when the /ebola/ board on 8chan was stolen by a fellow 8chan member of the Cure-Chan board, /cure/. This allowed the member of /cure/ to easily spread her name to new heights by changing the images to more of a Cure-Chan theme such as a re-imagining of the infamous Ebola-Chan picture holding the bloody skull but with Cure-Chan holding Ebola-Chan's head.[1] It is now deemed a ban-worthy offense to talk about Cure-Chan in a good light on /ebola/. In addition, Cure-chan has seen minor spread outside of 8chan and 4chan, including Tumblr, DeviantART and Facebook.
Presidential Campaign
On October 27th, 2015, Cure-chan has declared that she is running for office in the United States of America in 2016. She is part of the Peace and Freedom Party.[7]
Takeover
On April 1st, 2016, members of /ebola/ organized a takeover of the /cure/ board. They changed the design of the board to be Ebola-chan themed.[9]
On April 2nd, the owner of the board /cure/ e-mailed the admin of 8chan asking to have their board back from /ebola/. With the help of the admin, they got the board back swiftly.[10]
