About
Curse You Bayle! is a copypasta sourced from a monologue recited by the NPC Igon from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, which was released in June 2024. Igon is addressing the dragon Bayle, an optional boss in the DLC. The copypasta continues, "I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true Drake Warrior!" and so on. The copypasta and Curse You Bayle memes spread on social media after the DLC's release, trending on sites like Twitter / X, Reddit and TikTok, among others.
Origin
On June 21st, 2024, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was released for Elden Ring.[1] On the day of, various YouTubers shared footage of the Bayle the Dread boss fight, such as YouTuber[2] Boss Fight Database whose video received roughly 180,000 views in 10 days. At the video's 0:11-minute mark (shown below), the player summons Igon the Drake Warrior who immediately shouts, "Curse you, Bayle!"

Curse you, Bayle! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true Drake Warrior! And I, Igon! Your fear made flesh! Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon … But I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! With a hail of harpoons! With every last drop of my being!
Spread
Jokes referencing Igon started surfacing in late June 2024. An early example was posted by X[3] user @PatStaresAt on June 23rd, who joked that he and Igon were both shouting "Curse you Bayle!" gaining over 19,000 likes in nine days (shown below, left).
The copypasta spread going into late June 2024. For instance, on June 25th, X[4] user @Bri4nF shared an emojipasta rendition of Curse You Bayle, receiving over 14,000 likes in a week (shown below, right).
In full (and extended past the X character limit), the emojipasta reads:

On June 26th, 2024, X[5] user @ISPuuuv shared a video meme that used the Curse You Bayle copypasta, receiving over 26,000 likes six days (shown below).

Similar videos surfaced on YouTube, such as a Babe Please Stop video posted by YouTuber[6] boingo on June 26th, 2024, receiving over 9,100 views in six days (shown below).
On June 27th, 2024, TikToker[7] @eldenring_2024 posted a fan edit with the Curse You Bayle monologue, amassing over 2.6 million plays and 426,000 likes in five days (shown below, left).
Others on the app started using the abovementioned video's TikTok sound,[8] such as TikToker[9] @sgsamdaman on June 28th, whose video skit received roughly 154,200 plays and 30,000 likes in four days (shown below, right).
