Dance If You Gay Bruce is a catchphrase and TikTok sound taken from a Twitch stream in which streamer Kai Cenat is egging on streamer BruceDropEmOff while he's dancing, making fun of him by saying, "Dance if you gay, Bruce." The viral video was reuploaded to TikTok in November 2022, inspiring viral usage by creators who danced to imagined scenarios in which they would qualify as gay or recorded their friends dancing without telling them what song they were dancing to.

Origin

On November 14th, 2022, Twitch streamers Kai Cenat, YourRage and BruceDropEmOff streamed a "Boys Night" in which they dressed like nerds and just chatted. At a moment in the stream, Kai was freestyling while Bruce was dancing and said, "Dance if you gay, Bruce," multiple times over as Bruce kept dancing (YouTube^[1] upload, shown below).

On November 14th, 2022, TikToker^[2] zayloe999 posted a cropped version of just Bruce's camera during the stream, gaining roughly 1.1 million plays and 233,700 likes in six days (shown below, left). On November 15th, 2022, TikToker^[3] cashbasquiat was the first to use the sound, gaining roughly 52,900 plays and 6,500 likes in five days (shown below, right).

More TikTokers used the sound thereafter, for instance, on November 17th, 2022, TikToker^[4] im.jaywrld_1 used the sound by not telling his friends what they were dancing to, gaining roughly 446,100 plays and 85,300 likes in three days (shown below, left). On November 19th, 2022, TikToker^[5] sadiejestina used the sound to joke about an influencer that they hooked up with who they speculated to be gay based on comments from them, gaining roughly 3 million plays and 755,100 likes in one day (shown below, right).
