About

Dark Souls Drip refers to a series of parodies which depict Dark Souls characters in Hypebeast clothing. However, unlike the similar meme Goku Drip, Dark Souls Drip has spawned several YouTube videos that feature hip-hop remixes of Dark Souls boss themes.

Origin

The earliest known post to depict Dark Souls characters in Hypebeast clothing was posted August 5th, 2020 to /r/DarkSouls[1] by user Jukenos, though the post gained only 6 points (shown below).

It was not until late December 2020 that hip-hop of remixes of Dark Souls boss themes began appearing on YouTube, becoming the most popular form of the meme. On December 29th, YouTuber Butchimus posted a remix of Ornstein and Smough's theme as part of a parody video, gaining 36,000 views (shown below).

Spread

Over the following months, many more "Dark Souls Drip" videos would be posted to YouTube, featuring hip-hop remises of boss themes. On January 3rd, 2021, YouTuber toba posted a "drip" remix of Sif's theme from Dark Souls, gaining over 165,000 views (shown below, left). On January 20th, YouTuber Lethargic Phoenix posted a remix of Gwyn's Theme, gaining over 170,000 views (shown below, right).

Some of the most active creators in the meme are YouTubers Goochsquad and League of Pimps. On January 15th, League of Pimps uploaded a drip remix of "Vordt of the Boreal Valley," gaining over 70,000 views (shown below, left). On March 20th, Goochsquad posted a remix of the Abyss Watchers' music, gaining over 28,000 views (shown below, right).
