Jeffrey Epstein 4chan Connection, also known as Jeffrey Epstein Created /pol/ or Jeffrey Epstein Christopher Poole Connection, refers to viral discourse surrounding documents unveiled in the January 2026 Epstein Files release by the Department of Justice (DOJ) that allegedly connect Jeffrey Epstein to 4chan creator Christopher Poole (also known as moot).

According to the documents, Epstein and some of his colleagues reached out to Poole and had apparently used the site in the past for enigmatic purposes, linking threads and post numbers in their exchanges. Per the files, Epstein and Poole also allegedly met in late October 2011, with Poole creating 4chan's infamous /pol/ (politically incorrect) imageboard shortly after. The discovery led to a widespread conspiracy theory in early 2026 that Epstein created the pol board as a way to manipulate people and bring about the downfall of democracy.

The connections between Epstein, 4chan, /pol/ and Poole revealed in the newly released Epstein Files sparked significant discussion and reactions online in early 2026, as well as media coverage. Additionally, the topic became the source of numerous memes at the time, many mocking /pol/ users for perceivably being duped by Epstein into harboring alt-right or far-right political beliefs.

Origin

On January 30th, 2026, the Department of Justice (DOJ) published roughly 3.5 million pages from the Epstein Files as part of the "Epstein Files Transparency Act." According to the DOJ^[1] site's post, the files also included "more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images" in addition to emails and other documents. The files can be searched through and viewed by the public via the "Epstein Library" archives hosted on the DOJ^[2] site.

That same day, users on 4chan's^[3] /pol/ board began digging through the files and discovered that Christopher "moot" Poole was in the documents numerous times when searching keywords such as "moot," "chris poole," "christopher poole" and "christopher_poole."

Numerous threads appeared on 4chan that day discussing the connections between the site, particularly the creation of /pol/, its creator and Jeffrey Epstein. The conspiracy theory that Epstein created /pol/ largely stemmed from email exchanges with Jeffrey Epstein and Boris Nikolic (who used to work for the Gates Foundation) that allegedly led to Poole and Epstein meeting sometime between October 20th and 24th, 2011, with /pol/ then being created on October 23rd.

Shortly after, the 4chan thread was screenshotted and uploaded to Reddit's /r/greentext^[4] subreddit, titled "m00t listed in Epstein files, and not in the fun way," receiving over 240 upvotes and 35 comments in six days.

Also on January 30th, 2026, the discovery of moot in the Epstein Files appeared on X / Twitter,^[5] including a tweet from user CryptoCyberia that included a screenshot of Chris Poole's name being mentioned in an email from Epstein, garnering over 903,000 views, 13,000 likes and 150 replies in six days.

Discourse surrounding the alleged connections between Jeffrey Epstein, Chris Poole, 4chan and /pol/ continued to spread online throughout late January and early February 2026 as the topic garnered attention online and conspiracy theories evolved.

On January 30th, 2026, Bluesky^[6] user theswweet.myatproto.social posted a skeet referencing the images from the Epstein Files that included emails from Epstein with 4chan links, some of which were Rule 34 Five Nights at Freddy's SFM animations,^[8] garnering over 1,000 likes and 240 reposts in six days.

Also on January 30th, video game developer and artist Zoe Quinn (known for her connection to GamerGate) shared her thoughts on the conspiracy theory via her Bluesky^[9] account (unburntwitch.com) in a series of tweets that garnered over 1,800 likes and 220 reposts in five days.

On January 31st, 2026, Redditor crimsonfukr457 reposted a 4chan Greentext Story and meme featuring Charlie from Smiling Friends with an anon reacting to the Epstein created /pol/ theory to the /r/greentext^[7] subreddit, receiving over 2,900 upvotes and 60 comments in five days.

Various YouTubers, streamers and content creators also reacted to or discussed the viral theory as it spread online in early 2026.

For example, YouTuber Tandara454 uploaded a video titled "4chan founder is in the epstein files" on January 31st, garnering over 12,000 views, 900 likes and 370 comments in five days.

That same day, VTuber Kirsche discussed the 4chan and moot connections in the Epstein Files during a stream, which was uploaded to her YouTube channel on February 1st, receiving over 29,000 views, 1,900 likes and 450 comments in four days.

On February 2nd, 2026, journalist Ryan Broderick then published an article, titled "Here's how Epstein broke the internet," to Garbage Day^[10] discussing the conspiracy theory and Epstein's ties to 4chan.
