DEHUMANIZE YOURSELF AND FACE TO BLOODSHED is a memorable quote from the 1985 dystopian action RPG, The Screamer (ザ・スクリーマー), not to be confused with the 1995 racing game of the same name. The phrase grew to become a popular expression online in video game communities. The phrase is frequently paired with robocop.mp3.

Origin

On May 25th, 1985, Japanese video game developer Magical Zoo released the video game The Screamer for the Japanese home computer, the PC88,^[1] later ported to the PC98 as well. At the beginning of the game, a chyron sets the action of the game with the following Engrish text:

You stand on the city of disaster, the Beast City, where the Biological Intelligence in Artificial System, what we call "BIAS" locates. Nobody knows about what has been going on "BIAS." You could hear nothing but deep breathing of "BIAS." The only way to survive is…

On August 6th, 2007, YouTuber grace5592 published a video of the game's opening. The post received more than 26,000 views in less than 13 years (shown below).

In 2011, YouTuber CBoyardee released a video entitled "Dilbert 3," an animated parody of the comic strip Dilbert. In the video, Dilbert and Wally do a mass shooting at their workplace before finally committing suicide, at which point the phrase "DEHUMANIZE YOURSELF AND FACE TO BLOODSHED" appears numerous times, filling up the screen (mirror below).

Dilbert 3's background music, called "robocop.mp3," is a synth-heavy arrangement by CBoyardee of the theme song from Ocean Software's video game RoboCop. The original theme was composed by Jonathan Dunn, and appeared in many different releases of the game, including Game Boy, Commodore 64, the Amstrad CPC, and more.

On July 17th, 2011, YouTuber Kombat Unit uploaded "robocop.mp3" to YouTube using the phrase from The Screamer in the description. The post received more than 216,000 views in less than 10 years (screenshot below, left).

Months later, on September 26th, YouTuber yodooder shared a video entitled "dehumanize yourself and face to bloodshed," which features gameplay from Grand Theft Auto set to the RoboCop Game Boy theme. The post received more than 5,000 views in less than 10 years (shown below, right).

On January 22nd, 2013, RPG Codex^[2] user Clockwork Knight used the expression to describe the videogame Dragon Age III.

On February 3rd, 2014, Redditor^[3] davielove published a GIF of the phrase repeated on the glitching screen. The post received more than 400 points (97% upvoted) in less than seven years (shown below, left).

On January 31st, 2019, YouTuber Markie Music posted a video entitled "dehumanize yourself and face to bloodshed," which is also an animation set to the RoboCop theme (shown below, right).
