Dieto is the name given to images from the anime Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (パンティ＆ストッキングwithガーターベルト Panti ando Sutokkingu wizu Gātāberuto) "diet" scene. The scene has spawned many Photoshop parodies and is used as a reaction image similar to that of smug anime faces and Costanza.jpg. The scene has also spawned multiple Youtube Poops.

Origin

In the first part of episode 4, called “The Diet Syndrome” (Daietto Shindorōmu (ダイエット・シンドローム), Panty discovers that Stocking is on a diet, which Stocking claimed to be something she never has to go on. The main components of the videos include Panty’s over exaggerated expression as she asks about the diet, and Stocking’s horrific reaction. On October 26th, 2010, Youtube user rinlajd1a uploaded the scene gaining 180,000 views (shown below).

Spread

On DeviantArt searching dieto yields 280 search results^[1]. On Youtube the search for the meme comes up with over 2,500 results^[2]. On 4chan, a search for the phrase brings up roughly 300 results^[3]. On April 20th, 2013, Youtuber FlufferMixer uploaded a My Little Pony parody of the scene featuring Fluffle Puff gaining over 1.3 million views (shown below).

On March 7th, 2012, Youtuber Ponies. Ponies everywhere. uploaded a MLP parody featuring Princess Celestia and Twilight Sparkle reenacting the scene gaining over 1.2 million views (shown below, left). And on February 5th, 2011, Youtuber KoivoCartoonik uploaded the scene featuring a fandub in English gaining 700,00 views (shown below, right).
