About

"Dior Bags" TikTok Code Word For "Drones" refers to a trend on TikTok of calling drones or UFOs "Dior bags" concerning allegations that TikTok was censoring videos that discussed drones related to the alleged Drone Sightings Over New Jersey and the East Coast in late 2024. The Algospeak slang term was coined by TikToker Bethenny Frankel (@bethennyfrankel) in December 2024.

Origin

On December 23rd, 2024, TikToker[1] Bethenny Frankel (@bethennyfrankel) posted a video in which she was discussing "Dior bags," saying, "The Dior bags are real." She was using "Dior bags" as a code word for "drones" because she believed that TikTok was limiting the engagement of her previous videos about the drone sightings over New Jersey in late 2024. She had previously referred to them as the letter "D."[2] Her video, in which she first called drones "Dior bags," received over 4.8 million plays and 167,500 likes in a week (shown below).

Spread

In the following days, Bethenny Frankel shared more TikToks[3][4] using the code word "Dior bags" for "drones," and calling her content "DiorTok" rather than her previously used "DroneTok."[5]

Others on the app started to use the "Dior bags" code word as well. For instance, on December 24th, 2024, TikToker[6] @joeycontino2 posted a video about "Dior bags," amassing over 371,000 plays and 8,900 likes in six days (shown below).
