Double Face Challenge is a series of TikTok parody videos in which people show half their face smiling then reveal the other half crying in sync with the song "Agar Tum Saath Ho" from the Bollywood movie "Tamasha."

Origin

On October 15th, 2015, T-Series uploaded a recording of the song "Agar Tum Saath" to YouTube (shown below). A clip from this song was then uploaded to TikTok and used in this challenge. The video has gained over 152 million views and 486,000 likes in four years.

In early December 2018, Indian TikTok user Manjul Khattar[1] shared the earliest known iteration of the "Double Face Challenge" to TikTok (shown below). The clip has garnered 1.5 million likes, 13,300 comments and 55,500 shares in two months.

Spread

On December 6th, 2018, Rafiya R uploaded the first "Double Face Challenge" video to YouTube entitled "tum sath ho ya naho kya fark hai musically tiktok compilation | double emotions challenge" (shown below). The video has gained over two million views and 34,000 likes in two months.

On December 16th, 2018, Beauty Highlights uploaded the most viewed compilation video with over seven million views and 76,000 likes in two months (shown below, left). On January 7th, 2019, CANAL 1900 uploaded the second most viewed compilation with over five million views and 54,000 likes (shown below, right).
