About
Bas Kar Bhai, sometimes called Crying Anime Indian Villagers, is an exploitable meme that uses a screen capture from an anime depicting various Indian-looking men crying and smiling with their palms folded. The image is often reposted with a phrasal template that starts with the line "Bas kar bhai," which translates to "Stop it bro." The meme stems from a scene from the anime Symphogear, and first gained virality in the fall of 2020.
Origin
In an episode of the Japanese anime Symphogear, a character named Maria Cadenzavna Eve performs a song that is broadcast around the world, including on a giant screen next to the Taj Mahal in India. The scene featured various Indian men sobbing as they listened to her song (seen below).
Lolll TIL that meme of those uncles crying with their hands folded (that we all use for "Bas Kar") is from one random anime where grown-ass Indian men are crying in gratefulness & awe after watching a Japanese girl band concert.
It's now a hundred times funnier to me. pic.twitter.com/TBF62tceu1— Sahil Rizwan (@SahilRiz) December 20, 2020
