Modi Saying "Big Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence" refers to a viral video of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking at the conference of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize on February 28th, 2019. The clip of PM Modi's speech was first posted to the Bhartiya Janta Party's official YouTube channel in 2019 before a section of his speech went viral on Twitter in October 2022 when it was used in video and GIF caption memes and as an exploitable. The edited clip features PM Modi saying a series of tech buzzwords, such as big data, machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital manufacturing, big data analysis, quantum communication and internet of things.

Origin

On February 28th, 2019, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at a prize conference ceremony for the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize. A video of his speech was posted to YouTube on the same day by the BJP's official YouTube[1] account, where at the 10:52 timestamp, PM Modi can be heard saying the words, "Big data, machine learning, artificial intelligence," and then, "digital manufacturing, big data analysis, quantum communication and internet of things." The video gathered over 7,000 views in three years (seen below).

On October 15th, 2022, Twitter[2] user @ParikPatelCFA posted a clip from the aforementioned video alongside a quip about rookie coders, creating the first known example of it being used as a meme, gathering over 14,000 likes in nearly three days (seen below).

Spread

In the following days, the viral video continued to spread and see use in memetic formats. For example, on October 15th, 2022, Twitter[5] user @Stonks_dot_com posted the video alongside a caption that read, "POV: it’s your first day on the job as a McKinsey consultant." The tweet gathered over 13,000 likes in a day (seen below).

On October 16th, Twitter[3] user @sagarcasm posted the aforementioned clip as well, alongside a caption joking about boys from Bangaluru, a city in south India known colloquially as the nation's Silicon Valley. The tweet gathered nearly 20,000 likes in two days (seen below).

On October 17th, 2022, Twitter[4] user @Mirage_gurrl posted the clip alongside a caption about fixing the family's WiFi transmitter, gathering over 3,000 likes in a day (seen below).
