About

The Dracula Rap is a scene from the 2012 movie Hotel Transylvania in which Dracula joins his daughter Mavis and the human Jonathan in song onstage and starts rapping. It took off as a meme starting in April 2020 as Dracula's rap was replaced with songs and audio clips.

Origin

In the movie Hotel Transylvania, Dracula approaches the stage where Mavis and Johnny are singing. At Johnny's insistence, Dracula joins them and starts rapping, to Johnny and Mavis' surprise. Johnny then joins Dracula in his rapping. This rap scene was uploaded to YouTube[1] by the Fandango Family official channel, where it earned 23 million views in three years (shown below).

The first use of this rap in a meme was uploaded to YouTube[2] on April 6th, 2020 by the channel ColdBloodedStudiosYT, in which Dracula rapped a fanmade song from Five Nights At Freddy's, earning 14,000 views in one year (shown below).

Spread

On May 11th, 2020, the YouTube[3] channel KlngGeeck0 uploaded a meme compilation in which over 20 Dracula Rap variants were packed into a five minute video, which earned 27,000 views in one year (shown below). This same video was later re-uploaded by the YouTube channel LEGO Captain Rex seven days later, where it acquired 190,000 views in one year.
