Drog

Drog is a brainrot-style internet meme centered around a crudely edited or distorted dog image typically captioned with the word “drog.” The meme more recently has been commonly paired with nonsensical or remix-style meme audios such as “what the dog doing?”, “bibilabu,” or “bababoui,” and is associated with the broader genre of absurdist short-form content circulating on platforms like TikTok and Douyin in the mid-2020s. It has become extremely popular and began creating a Chinese Brainrot subgenre.

Origin

The earliest source origins of the Drog image can be traced back to a Reddit post from 2024 and a viral post on X on May 4th 2025. Both using the same Doge / Frog deepfried brainrot mashup image.

The post quickly circulated among meme accounts and shitposting communities, where the word “drog” began appearing. The minimalistic presentation and vague humor allowed the meme to be reused in many contexts, often as a reaction image or punchline caption.

Spread to Douyin, then TikTok and X

In early 2026, the meme experienced renewed popularity on Douyin and later TikTok, as well as X, where creators began remixing the original image into AI generated videos of the drogs with swords and shields, overlayed with brainrot audios, like what the dog doing?

The format typically involves a group of drogs awkwardly uninvited in a human environment, while listening to their brainrot remix audio. Their very essence embody's the increasing popularity of “brainrot” content, a genre of deliberately overstimulating memes built around absurd sounds and visuals.

Legacy

By early 2026, the drog meme had become a recurring element in dog-based brainrot edits, frequently appearing as a prominent absurd meme animal across all social platforms. Its simplicity and adaptability allowed it to persist as a reusable visual gag in short-form meme culture.
